Split Views On Millionaire’s Tax

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 04, 2009

Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith, D-Queens, said today that higher income taxes

on the wealthy to help close the state’s $13 billion budget gap “would be the last resort. I think we can look at other things before we get there.”

That contradicts what Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, D-Manhattan, has been saying. He reiterated today that a tax on the wealthy has to be part of the discussions.

“Obviously nobody likes to increase taxes but the fact remains that they are on the agenda, they are clearly part of the governor’s proposal and I’d love to see other alternative proposals,” Silver said.

Gov. David Paterson has also frowned on a millionaire’s tax or higher income taxes on people making more than $250,000 a year, saying it would hurt the economy.

Helloooo people making more than 250,000 a year are no
where near millionaires….now more than 1 million dollars
a year might be closer..but how many of them are there left
you can always count on the democrats to play the class
card….upper middle is rich to them…

  2. True

Correct. $250,000 is wealthy in Syracuse but it is not wealthy in Manhattan, Westchester, or Long Island. In Manhattan $250,000 buys you a one bedroom apartment.

However, it is the upper middle-class’ fault for continuing to vote against their economic interest.

THAT IS EXACTLY CORRECT..THE LIBERALS IN GREENBURGH KEEP
ELECTING PEOPLE THAT HAVE AN ECONOMIC VIEWPOINT THAT
IS COMPLETELY UNDERMINING THEIR INTERESTS..AND FRANKLY
    THATS FINE…I DON’T OWN A THING IN NEW YORK..AND I
HOPE THAT BETWEEN SCHOOL TAXES AND INCOME TAXES THAT
THESE PEOPLE LEARN A GOOD LESSON

I think it’s a terrible thing when millionaires get the benefits of eight years of tax cuts by the Bush Administration and then as soon as a Black Democratic President is elected “suddenly” there is this need to end government.

But I guess that is to be expected from rich white people who claim that they are the victims of black racism

Paul “tax and spend” Feiner is now BFF with Strip Club Sam who is a huge landlord, as I understand it, in an effort to end government (the very same government that protects tenants by the way,as if that is a surprise to anyone).

Paul Feiner is perhaps the single biggest tax fan in all of New York State. Who else has succeeded in increasing taxes an average of 15% per year?

Now Paul “tax and spend” Feiner has decided to live in the dark side of morality I guess and so he has found that taxing rich people is bad. I suppose that leaves taxing poor people or taxing our future to provide his tax fix.

I certainly hope that Paul Feiner is at least paying for the strippers at the rally out of private funds; the people of Westchester should not be paying for lap dances.

  5. little red ridinghood

apparently the group that is calling itself “rethinking
county government” has issued statements distancing
themselves from mr zherka who is for abolishing county
government…As for Feiner we already know he accepted
money from mr zherka for his website…so I guess
we know which side of the fence he will come down
on..when the public understands that the guy leading
the charge to abolish county government…and calling
the ralley for april is the owner of a strip club
in new york city…and someone who has started 14 or
15 lawsuits against the very municipalities, including
the county, which he says are wasting money…he does
not address the fact that making these municipalities
hire private attorneys is in fact a huge waste of money
He claims he will return everything he gets to the taxpayers
but you can’t return the legal fees paid to outside attorneys they ain’t gonna give the money back
