Brodsky and Ball mix it up

Posted by: Jay Gallagher - Posted in Uncategorized on Mar 05, 2009

It will surprise no observers of LoHud politics that Assemblymen Richard Brodsky and Greg Ball aren’t best friends. But they had a particularly nasty exchange today.

Both were at a hearing called by Brodsky on whether the state’s system of setting prices in the wholesale-electricity market should be changed.  Brodsky, D-Greenburgh, thinks it needs to be changed. Ball, R-Carmel, doesn’t.

The exchange started when Ball thanked some power officials for their testimony, and then said “Welome to Albany, where a little knowledge is a dangerous thing,’’ which sounded like a slap at Brodsky.

A moment later, after asking another question, Ball said to the official, “Is that right, or am I just another ignorant legislator?’’

“Mr. Ball, you will limit remarks about legislators to yourself,’’ Brodsky shot back.

“If you take offense at that, it says more about you than about me,’’ Ball responded.

Brodsky then again told Ball to “limit remarks about legislators to yourself.’’

Ball seemed to ignore him , but his time questioning expired and the hearing moved on.

No exchange of holiday cards seems likely.

  1. Negativity

Ball gains notarity by negativity !!!!!!!! Same ole thing over and over.

  2. tyn

Brodsky will eat Ball up and spit him out. Ball better pick a fight somewhere else.

  3. Why

What is the reason for Ball to be attacking Brodsky? Can’t seem to recall any history barbs between them. What does Ball gain other than getting his name in the story here?????

  4. Pashy

So Brodsky’s proposal to cut electric rates by 10% is a bad thing according to Ball?

Once again the self-proclaimed “champion of the middle class” proves to be champion of the highest bidder. How much are the Independent Power Producers donating to his congressional campaign?

Ball is a pathetic, self-aggrandizing and corrupt politician. The term legislator need not apply to him.

  5. Mountain Spring

Ball proves himself to be an embarrassment to the people he supposedly represents, once again.

I wish this guy would just get a clue and crawl back under the rock he came from.

  6. Just remember

this at this year’s Southeast Town Board elections as well. This is the dysfunction that he’s brought to our town and now he’s trying to get two more of his rubber stamps on the board.

  7. Pay as bid

Brodsky’s proposal is the same proposal that created the California Energy crisis.

There is reason that every state in the nation uses pay as bid. California tried switching once—look what happened to them.

Brodsky’s 2 billion dollar figure is a pipe dream!

It’d be worth asking what system the power companies want, then do the opposite.

Going to a free market could be worthwhile, AS LONG AS there were safeguards against the kind of gaming that Enron was doing in CA. I wouldn’t hold up too much hope that the NYS Assembly and Senate would get THAT little detail right, though.

Maybe Brodsky left the dead goat on Ball’s front lawn?

  9. 7Curses

the incumbent from the 99th AD is a punk twerp useless little pile of manure and droppings

  10. L. Bulero

Hey YellowDog-I mean 7Curses-you left your goat outside Greg’s house.

  11. Gor your goat

Apparently Ball “found” a dead goat in front of his house in Patterson and has suggested that Brodsky could have been responsible.

He’s also claiming the L.A. street gang MS-13 was involved. Unfortunatley for the Assemblyman, MS-13’s existance in Brewster is only in his head and in fabricated campaign mailers. The D.A., Sheriff’s office, and Trooper have all disputed Ball’s claims on this.
