Ryan creates task force on stimulus dough
Hoping that a good share of the billions of federal stimulus dollars headed to New York will end up in Westchester County, Board of Legislators Chairman William Ryan assembled a group to make that happen.
Ryan created Legislative Task Force on Westchester Economic Recovery. It’s comprised of four legislators — Peter Harckham, D- Cortlandt Katonah, Ken Jenkins, D-Yonkers and Martin Rogowsky, D-Harrison. Tom Abinanti, D-Greenburgh will chair it.
“Pumping billions of federal dollars into local economies across the country will create jobs and boost consumer spending, breaking up the recession cycle we’re in. Our goal is to secure as much of that funding for Westchester as possible,” Ryan said in a statement. “The task force will help ensure the county takes full advantage of the enormous number of funding opportunities that will be rolled out in the weeks and months ahead.”
Ryan said the task force has two objectives: getting as much funding for local projects and working with local governments, business groups, non-profits and taxpayers to boost the local economy.
The concept came out of the National Association of Counties, NACO, legislative conference held last week in Washington, D.C.
Ryan and his legislative colleagues were briefed by White House staff and Obama administration officials who are spearheading the federal economic recovery program. The chairman said the meetings provided legislators with an education on program objectives and just how quickly the stimulus measures are expected to move.

Bill will cost his colleagues at least two seats on the County Board this November. We will hang Ryan around their necks like a millstone, and make each race a referendum on The Boss. Make book on it.

What a waste!!! ed1 is right all Dems. Not one of them cares. They just want, want, for their districts, not all of Westchester. If you look they are all b__ nosers. Not one that has a different view then Boss Bill. All of whom have gone along with them. Most of them looking to take Boss Bill’s job!!! Most of them are know for their yes sir and I can’t do it because Boss says NO!!!! It use to be Abinanti was a stand up guy now there is a question about who he serves. And those tasle shoes are a big giveaway about what Harckham is all about!!!
Well the Board of Legislators has a new task force to play hide the money. Do these members get money for being on this task force, watch it will come out of the budget under special studies. License to spend taxpayers money. Let’s do something this year at the polls. All tax and spend should be out, especially these k—- ups.
