Feiner: taxpayers should pay over time
Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, a critic of county government who has called for its elimination, says taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay all their tax bills by April 30. He wants the county to pass a law allowing residents to spread out their payments over time.
“These are difficult times for many people – especially seniors on fixed incomes and people who recently lost their jobs. Many people cannot pay their entire tax obligations all at once,” Feiner wrote in an e-mail sent out to constituents. ”It would be easier on taxpayers if property owners could pay part of the bill in the spring and the balance later in the year.”
Taxpayers must now pay their entire bill by the deadline. He said localities are not authorized to accept partial payments and must assess penalties.

feiner has got to stop grandstanding…property owners with
mortgages escrow for taxes so they already pay on a monthly
basis…at 7% interest most people will opt to pay taxes
on time..and if paul would stop raising them it would
be a lot easier
Agree with the consultant, Feiner is playing games with the public. Feiner is saying what he believes people want to hear, Feiner is a phony.
Feiner wants to rethink county government..how about he
start rethinking town government..how about recommending
that the incorporated areas like dobbs, irvington, hastings
and ardsley share some services and cut adm costs..whats
the matter not poltically palatable….thats exactly
why it should be done….harping on the county is a useless
excerise which will yield very little in terms of tax
savings…
Feiner is a puppet master. I believe that he is exposing his true self to all. Steve Bass & crew have been laying in wait and Paul is serving himself on a platter.
Feiner is a shrewd cookie. A tax and spend liberal who espouses “fairness,” lower taxes help for seniors, fiscal integrity, and etc., etc. etc. Some honest politician who will really see to it that these issues are actually confronted and dealt with could learn from his schtick, but just eliminate the hypocrisy and the ineffectuality.
