Robocalls target Hall
The National Republican Congressional Committee has launched a new offensive of robocalls targeting U.S. Rep. John Hall, D-Dover Plains.
The blitz, which began this week, charges Hall with “endorsing a reckless spending spree in Washington.”
Here’s part of the script urging calls to Hall’s office although Congress is on recess.
Hello I’m calling from the National Republican Congressional Committee with an urgent message. Congressman John Hall and Nancy Pelosi are working together to create a massive budget deficit that could raise taxes…Congressman John Hall let Nancy Pelosi get away with passing a budget with a trillion dollar deficit…it’s been called the most fiscally irresponsible budget in the history of the federal government…..and that is saying a lot..Call Congressman John Hall at 202-225-3121 and tell them to put the brakes on spending. Paid for by The National Republican Congressional Committee. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee. W-W-W-dot-N-R-C-C-dot-O-R-G. 320 First Street, southeast Washington, DC 20003. 202-479-7000.

I have just one question: when President Bush gave away one trillion dollars of our grand children’s money to keep the horses fat in Bedford and Wall Street brokers the ability to keep their second (and third!) homes and collect multi-million dollar bonuses as reward for crashing the economy, where was the NRCC then?
Better question is, where would YOU be if he hadn’t?
2 wrongs do not make a right. SOoJeff lets give more money. Lets get ourself so far in debt that your taxes will go up. If we continue to print money the value of that money will go down it will affect us in the global market.
When inflation finally goes up, we go back to our tried and true old way of living – paying off debt with money that is monthly more and more worthless, driving up the price of everything, including salaries, taxes, and real estate. The way the present administration and local government works, during disinflation or deflation, nothing goes up BUT taxes.
Sounds like Greg Ball must have a hand on this with robocalls going out against Hall. These robocalls are horrible and there should be a way to block them from invading our homes.
Concerned, CPA, I think you’re missing the point and it’s still a valid question: When the last President gave away the nation’s working-class wealth to the super-rich who caused an economic crises, where was the condemnation from the NRCC? All the right-wing talking heads I heard were in favor of just such a thing. You can skip that issue if you want but then any criticism of the current situation is hollow and empty.
It’s hard to imagine how anyone (other than a wall street broker) could believe that the forced transfer of wealth from the middle-classes to the uber-rich as a good thing yet an infusion of less monies directly into the working class economy is a bad thing.
This is why I think the NRCC doesn’t care a whit about anything other than unseating the President (a man I did not vote for, by the way). The rhetoric coming from what should be a loyal opposition borders on the desperate. It’s sad, really.
So, the question remains, where was the NRCC when Bush gave away the farm?
