How’s the fundraising going?

Posted by: Susan Elan - Posted in 19th CD, 2010, 99th Assembly District, Congress, John Hall on Apr 20, 2009

Assemblyman Greg Ball, R-Patterson, said today he’ll make an announcement May 9 on whether he will seek the Congressional seat currently held by U.S. Rep. John Hall, D-Dover Plains.

What Ball won’t say is how his fundraising is going.

Ball didn’t file a report with the Federal Election Committee in time to meet its April 15 deadline. But he said it wasn’t necessary because he is still in the exploratory stage.

Federal Election Commission spokeswoman Julia Queen said under the “testing the waters” stipulation filing is required if $5,000 is raised or spent.

But Ball said since he isn’t a candidate yet, it doesn’t apply.

He won’t reveal how much he has raised or spent on his extended “listening tours” across the district that stretches over five counties.

  1. Fundraising and Filing

If article is correct and “testing the waters” filing is required if $5000 is raised or spend, it sounds as tough Ball may not have raised this small amount of money. People are struggling and donating money is difficult for most. Ball will need lots of money to run against Hall.

  2. THE TRUTH ABOUT BALL

Not being able to raise $5,000 for a congressional race is pathetic.

Ball is a loser who, frankly, has only run against other losers. He picked on the weak political establishment in Putnam County and built them up (in the media) into some sort of indestructible force – so that when he beat them, the perception was that Greg Ball was unstoppable.

Now that he’s moved on to the “big leagues” he’s quickly realizing what a loser he is and that he simply cannot compete.

Looks like Greg Ball isn’t all he’s cracked up to be. A lifelong Assemblyman… congratulations, loser!

  3. greg ball = liar

did anyone else read the article on rte. 22 today?

    Q. why did greg ball hang up on the reporter???

    A. because she caught him in one his many, many lies.
—greg ball is not used to being called out on his lies.

good for ms. rojas that someone finally had the courage to stand up to this bully and ask for the truth.

greg ball is a serial liar who needs to be called out on every bs claim every time. his so-called “record” is one of rhetoric with not a single concrete result or accomplishment.

  4. He also

likes to make up on his own rules. He’s in the exploratory or “testing the waters” phase of his campaign right now.

    From the article:

Federal Election Commission spokeswoman Julia Queen said under the “testing the waters” stipulation filing is required if $5,000 is raised or spent.

But Ball said since he isn’t a candidate yet, it doesn’t apply.

    .....

So Ball just gets to make up new rules? He either has raised over $5,000 and is illegally not reporting it or he hasn’t crossed the $5,000 threshold.

Either case does not boast well for him.

  5. WaltTrombone

He’s just heartbroken over all the polo ponies that died mysteriously last week. There goes another fundraising opportunity…

  6. 7Curses

the misogynist incumbent from the 99th AD is nothing more than the equivalent of a female anopheles mosquito carrying disease and malevolence where ever he goes ! now he is thinking of spreading his manure to the 19th CD….......... SWAT !

  7. smartporpoise

The equivalent of a female mosquito who hates females and goes by the name “he” while contemplating the spread of his dung. Tolkien made millions with an imagination like this. 7 Curses needs an agent.

  8. whoskiddingwho

Everyone seems to be gerting along on the political front in Putnam County, and that’s because they’ve all agreed to stay out of each other’s way. They’re lining themselves up for all these new jobs: leibell to County Executive, Birmingham to Assembly, Ball to Congress, etc. And the secret deal’s been cut to back Smith for re-election to sheriff, as completely useless as Smith has been. Ball will have a tough time beating Hall but he shouldn’t be dismissed either. He’s not gonna do it unless he’s 100% committed and ready. Like him or not, he’s got an army.
