David Spano, the son of County Executive Andrew Spano, announced that he would primary his own dad for the post and take a 50 percent paycut if he won. He’s running on a platform of eliminating county government.
“By running for county executive, I intend to be the last county executive,” Spano told the crowd. “I’m a man of the people. I believe my father is a man of his people. I would hope to be the last county executive and eliminate myself.”
Younger Spano made the announcement at a tax rally Saturday in White Plains, protesting Westchester County’s high taxes and calling for the elimination of county government. Read the full story here.
In other races, Kurt Colucci, a 33-year-old project manager from New Rochelle, announced that he would run for county legislator.
“My main goal is to create awareness on the issue,” Colucci said of rising taxes. “Stop running people out of the county. … A county corrections officer makes $288,000 a year, it’s wasteful. I’m a regular person — I don’t want to pay higher taxes. I just want to keep the people I love around.”
It’s all part of a plan to change the government from the inside-out, said Sam Zherka, an organizer who emceed the tax rally. Because eliminating county government is a long-term goal and no easy task — it would require a state constitutional convention and approval from the state Legislature — he said it was important to get political outsiders involved in the process and create another party.
“This is not a Democrat or Republican issue, this is a people issue,” Zherka said. “We need to create or build a third or fourth party. We need to put people in there who are not aligned with either party.”

he is under investigation in manhattan for drug
dealing money laundering and prostitution has convinced
the son of the county executive to basically repudiate
his own father…and even though you all know there
are issues of a personal nature between them you
still continue to make this a story…maybe its

I was at a dinner party in Pound Ridge last week and then at another event in Rye and this is apparently the nick name that everyone has for Zherka’s friends. I just thought it was funny and an isolated label. I have now heard this from at least five people that don’t know each other…very funny.
The circus is coming to town, staring Zherka, Blassberg, Lovett and Castro.
You forgot to place Paul Feiner on your list of The Son’s of Sam.

I am really wondering at this point if the great political

This is just noise. David Spano will not be on any ballot. The election process requires Financial Disclosures, Petitions, etc. Again, this is just noise.

Did I not read that Davy Boy is 50 years old and claims to be a “full time student and artist”?
This would indicate a severe mental problem to me. Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) over 25 should call themselves a “full-time student” even if they are because it just means (to me) that you are a bum.
To hear that a boy 50 years old calls himself a “full-time student” is sad.
Of course if he is a “full-time student”...
exactly what school is he currently enrolled in?

what is his major?

David Spano is being used as a Human Shield. Sadly, he has no idea that sinister men are taking advantage of him. David has just a few weeks to enjoy the ‘special treatment’ in the strip joints.
David is only one good poem away from becoming by far the most valuable member of the Spano family.

Paradox?
the Paradox is that Paul TAX AND SPEND Feiner is pretending to be part of a tax cut movement. That is beyond absurd. He raise taxes an average of 15% PER YEAR in Greenburgh as can be seen by the tax increases in the last two years alone!
Paul TAX AND SPEND Feiner is one of the biggest taxers in the state of New York, possibly in the History of the State of New York.
Now we are to believe he is the solution to high taxes? He is the reason for high taxes!
the fact that Paul Feiner has no compunction about
being seen as an ally of sam zherka is extremely troubling
like dennis robertson in yonkers who took a substantial
portion of his campaign war chest in the failed run for
mayor from zherka, these guys seem not to care about
who their contributors are..its one thing for sam
zherka to puff about abolishing government which is
totally not doable…he after all is merely a strip
club owner spending his money on bolstering his
ego and getting press..but it is quite another for
the supervisor of the Town of Greenburgh one of the
largest municipalities in the state to take part
in the charade..

After reading the comments above I would like to express my appreciation for the person who coined the term “sons of sam”....I have a great sense of humor and always appreciate the same…..I will never lose my sense of humor!
I ask you to please remember that I am just a normal over-taxed resident who is fed up w/ the wasteful over-taxation that has been thrust upon us. When I see something that puts such an unfair burden on working men and women who are hard working and honestly trying their best to support themselves or their family, I am unable to sit back and just accept it.
I am happy that you are all involved and care enough to write your thoughts down in this blog and express yourselves.
I am very appreciative to know that there are others that actually care about the local political climate….like everyone voicing their opinions here….
I will be running for local office and invite all the open conversation criticism and advice. I am not an expert nor do I claim to be, I just want to make my life and the lives of my friends, co-workers and neighbors easier by helping to make our local government more accountable on all levels….especially over-spending.

The truth of the matter is David Spano does have issues and should be excused for his misbehavior. Unfortunately he is being lead by others and is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. David is being used by Zherka and others and maybe David will snap out of it and reveal the truth behind who and why he is doing what he is doing. Andrew Spano is showing class by not feeding into the Zherka’s side show staring David Spano and Andrew is remaining silent about his son and their family situation. Respect for one’s family is an important attribute and I am glad Andrew Spano is showing that he has respect for his family.
What else could he do – get into a public shouting match?
this is all about one thing? sam’s zherka’s ego…
he is using any tool he can to get the kind of recognition that serves his own purpose…he is using his newspaper as
a political tool…he is using david spano against his
father in a way which is unacceptable..today he appeared
at the DA’s political announcement and disrupted the proceedings .it is exactly the same tactic that totalitarian
regimes used in the old soviet block nations to stifle
and intimidate dissent….zherka tries his best using
his lawyer Lovett to intimidate those who he does not
want to speak…he has already been warned by a federal
judge that his allegations are at the very least
misleading…so what are they at the very most?
the more coverage he gets the more he seeks…and the
beneficiary is of course his hand picked personal
candidate for DA tony castro…ZHerka has no idea
that all of this is backfiring as word spreads that
zherka is in it to control the da’s office…who
were those protesters with zherka today..how did
they get their and what are their backrounds…
The more the Zherka crowd throws their scruffy weight and their otherwordly accusations around, the more moderates who don’t even particularly LIKE the DA will vote for her.
