ESPN’s Kay campaigning for Spano?

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Uncategorized on May 11, 2009

ESPN radio host Michael Kay today strayed from sports for a few moments on his show to talk politics — he blasted Rob Astorino’s bid for county executive.

The Yankees play-by-play broadcaster, in a segment on The Michael Kay Show on 1050 ESPN Radio, joked about receiving some campaign literature from his former producer (and fellow Fordham University grad) and said the guy’s not fit to serve the public, let alone produce a radio show.

Kay, a 48-year-old Westchester resident, said that he liked Astorino, but wouldn’t vote for him to be a dog catcher.

Ouch, that’ll leave a mark.

His colleagues told him to pipe down, but Kay kept the barbs centerstage — at least for a few moments.

Astorino was a producer for ESPN radio before becoming station manager and program director of The Catholic Channel on Sirius Satellite Radio where he hosts a weekly show with New York Archbishop TImothy Dolan.

Wow, that says something about Rob Astorino when someone he once worked with rips him on the radio and says that he would not vote for him for dog catcher. Rob’s past will come out and haunt him.

The Yankee’s Michael Kay is speaking from first hand experience, it appears Rob astorino has a few skeletons in his closet. A close look at Mr. Astorino’s bachground will reveal much.

Who listens to this jerk anyway? This is the same moron who called A-Rod’s first homer last week “a fairy tale swing.” Whenever this guy is calling a Yankees game, I say “See Ya”, turn the sound off on my TV and put on Sterling on WCBS.

Listening to Kay is like someone scratching their fingernails across a blackboard. The only skeleton in Rob’s closet is that he helped this *** get a radio show.

“a close look at Mr. Astorino’s bachround?” Didn’t know he was a conductor. What does he conduct, symphony orchestras? Hopefully, in November he will be conducting electricity and effectively zap the fatuous, big-spending Democratic machine in Westchester.

Kaye and Astorino have been ribbing each other on air for years. It’s a longstanding and friendly exchange. Looks like Kaye is having some fun here.

Kay is the voice of the “Yankees” and listened to by many, trying to discredit his audience is foolish. Mihael Kay is well respected and his opinion has value.

“trying to discredit his audience?” Get a grip and stop the embarrassing, sophomoric shilling.

I can assure you that KAY is not being serious..he is having
some fun at rob’s expense…although he probably doesn’t
realize that some people will indeed take him seriously but
then he has plenty of time to change his mind..which i am
    sure he will do..

there is bad blood between the two, there will be making up

this year is shaping up to be a year of distraction
with sam zherka funding tony castro’s campaign
as well as david spano’s supposed effort to run against
his own dad, the press is biting like sunnies in lake
mahopac, and zherka is too stupid to realize that he
is mouthing an anti andy spano line while he is undermining
the chances of a legitimate challenger…because its not
about who wins or looses for sam ..its about how much
    attention he gets

Kay is a dick with his see ya call, he knows NOTHING

And, in re-reading RJ’s remarks, he’s an obvious close second.
