Not so. The family limit is an aggregate amount but nowhere does the BOE state that family are bound to the $3,800 limit. So yes family can give as much as they want as long as the total (from all family) does not exceed $100,000.

Read the NYS handbook starting on page 23.

As to Loans I can find no document stating all loans need to be repaid before the election. Please provide where this is stated. I worked for a campaign in 2004 which required numerous loans and debt to carry on to term and after the election they continued to fundraiser to pay said debt with no legal repercussions from the Fed which we reported to regularly.

I cannot find the NY law which states differently.

Your interpretation of the law is way off. The Family limit laws do not pertain to individuals but to an entire family. Each individual is still held to the $3,800 limit. (the family law stops a rich fellow from having 10 members of his immediate family give $3800 each when everyone knows it is Dad’s money)

But this is not even relevent to Greg Ball’s filing since he did not put his Dad’s and Brother’s money down as contributions but rather as loans. Loans have thier own law. The law is that it has to be repaid by election day.

Ball is either very incompetent or woefully malicious.

The 15th of the month has come and gone and still no Personal Financial Disclosure from Greg. Shocking.

Failure To File or Filing False Disclosure Statements

The financial disclosure provisions of the Ethics in Government Act have been incorporated by reference as a rule of the House of Representatives, over which the Standards Committee has jurisdiction. In addition to any Committee action, EIGA authorizes the Attorney General of the United States to seek a civil penalty of up to $11,000 against an individual who knowingly and willfully falsifies or fails to file or to report any required information. Moreover, under federal criminal law, anyone who knowingly and willfully falsifies or conceals any material fact in a statement to the government may be fined up to $11,000, imprisoned for up to five years, or both.

The Committee is authorized to render advisory opinions interpreting the financial disclosure provisions of EIGA for any person under its jurisdiction. An individual who acts in good faith in accordance with a written advisory opinion shall not be subject to any sanction under the Act.

Non-family members can contribute up to $3,800. There is nothing wrong with t he donations of Greg’s family. If there were NY has had years to do something about it which obviously they have not and cannot.

It was, after all, Mr. Birmingham who was (is?) Chairman of the committee with his close and personal pal Michael Santos serving as Treasurer.

Wonder if Greg knew about that?

Ball doesn’t have a new web site. All they did was change the page title. His Contribute page was changed to send thr money to his congressional account and not NY.

This shows the loans from relatives that were not paid back by election day ….therefore they are illegal contributions. Not rumors. Facts.

I have asked numerous times to be removed from Greg Ball’s call list to no avail. I am a staunch Democrat – will never ever vote for Greg Ball

Greg Ball knows that the New York State Board of Elections asked him over a year ago for detailed records of all transfers from his campaign account, held at the time with with Wachovia Bank, N.A., to his personal account, held at the time with the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) Bank.

The information is all just a F.O.I.L. away so long as one knows where to look.

Ball’s response to the request was less than satisfactory with his Treasurer (and father), Robert L. Ball, of 85 Fairway Drive, Pawling, NY, producing receipts for less than half of the transfers in question.

Unfortunatley, no new information can be obtained about this request and/or investigation. Perhaps a reporter at the Journal News could look into this.

It is important to note that due to budget constraints, the Board of Elections was forced to cut their investigation team down to one individual. Doubtful anything of purpose will be accomplished given the current situation.

Glad to hear the Feds are now getting involved.

The suspected co-mingling of state and freshly-minted federal campaign accounts was of particular interest to the FEC, who prompted the audit of Ball’s state committee.

Ball better get his ducks in a row. The NYS BOE is not running this show. It will be overseen by an FEC investigator who will demand every single piece of paper. I sure hope Ball keeps good records on those loans, and repayments. And the source of the money that funded the loan in the first place. As a federal candidate, he is open to and very well may be personally audited.

Just look at Ball’s filings – they’re so sloppy and shady. Something is not right.

I’m simply satisfied that someone is finally doing their job and looking into one of the more corrupt politicians in New York State.

He did nothing in Albany. It’s not about bills passed – it’s about spending time working and drafting ideas, and meeting with people cooperatively to advance those ideas. No thanks – too archaic for Greg. His highlight is when he speaks on the floor, talks about debates as being Dog and Pony Shows, and leaves the hall after he’s spoken.

Greg Ball intends to be a Governor, or a US Senator, and President. Whether he gets there or not isn’t the point – that’s what his every action is directed to: political advancement as the spokesperson for ultra-conservative ideology.

According to the NYS BOE – Greg owes $77,215.27 in outstanding loans for his Assembly account.

Loans include David Ball giving $6,151.52 and Robert Ball loaned $10,000. They have to loan the money because individual limit is $3,800.

Here is the kicker. Loans have to be re-paid by election day or it is an illegal contribution OVER the campaign limits.

Greg did not repay the loans so now both him and his relatives have broken NYS law.

This guy is out of control. Its like he says “Hey Dad, ignore the limits and just give me $10,000 and I will put it down as a ‘loan’ that I wont pay back”.
