McCall On Endoring Gillibrand

May
28

Former state Comptroller Carl McCall said he endorsed Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand today because “I’ve known her for a long time and I’ve admired her for a long time.”

With her potential Democratic primary foes dropping off, McCall said in an interview that his endorsement today comes because “She has some momentum now. This was just a good time. She’s trying to reach out to a lot of people to get on board now.”

He downplayed criticism that Gillibrand, the former Albany-area congresswoman, has flip-flopped on issues, in particular gun rights and same-sex marriage.

“When you move to statewide office, you have to look at things a little differently,” McCall said. “You’re representing a different kind of constituency. I don’t think it’s a flip flop. I think you evolve and have different interests you have to serve.”

Though about 10 of her New York congressional colleagues have yet to endorse her, she’s been touting recent endorsements from elected leaders and groups.

Today, other Democrats who endorsed her include: Brooklyn Assemblymen Darryl Towns and Karim Camara;  Assemblywoman Deborah Glick of Manhattan, Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson of Mount Vernon, Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples of Buffalo, Assemblyman Mark Schroeder of Erie County and Assemblyman Richard Brodsky of Greenburgh, Westchester County.

Carl McCall has proven himself to be am incompetent lightweight over and over – most recently on the dimwitted board at the NYSE where he was directly part of the bumblers and manipulators who afforded the Grasso grab over a hundred million bucks. Better he should spend his time golfing for free with Vernon Jordan and Slick Willie. Monica, with whom they’re each very familiar with, can carry the clubs.

Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Schumer the new “king” of NY is making sure everybody is onboard. But he has a problem his “Brain” Hank Morris is under the “spotlight” and drawing more and more attention. That spotlight could start shinning on Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Schumer. There are many questions that need to be answered regarding his “Brain” Hank Morris. Did he ever visit his 4 million dollar home in East Hampton ?
What calls did he make on behalf of Hevesi in 2006 ?
What role did he play in the selection and election of DiNApoli ?
plus all those meals with contributors.

New York Democrats know quality when they see her. The list of Gillibrand’s endorsements grows by the day. How fortunate we are to have a Senator who is at once smart, funny and willing to listen; who moves swiftly to make better legislation on gun control, public health, banking, credit cards, green energy and more; and who works tirelessly for jobs and to make New York a better place to live. The other 99 should follow her lead.

Willing to listen to whom? Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, and Alphonse D’Amato? Talk about schizophrenia! Most of us prefer our “funny” from comedians.

Kirsten Gillibrand made it clear when she was appointed to the US Senate that she would now represent the broader and more diverse interests of this huge state. And she moved quickly to do just that: She is working with New Yorkers Against Gun Violence to halt the flow of illegal guns into NY from out of state. She’s working closely with immigrant advocates to prevent the breakup of families and to extend higher education opportunities to their young people. Carl McCall knows her as an effective, hard-working, exceedingly intelligent young woman. He knows New York is lucky to have her in the Senate.

Carl McCall is hardly one whose opinion is worth two minutes of anyone’s time. He’s proven his political and business incompetence over and over again. Nice suit. And as for Kirsten, she’s shown herself to be nothing more than a self-promoting yo-yo. I don’t care what Party she belongs to.

Some folks seem to be missing the point: The news bulletin here is that Senator Gillibrand is stacking up the endorsements from significant elected officials who are supporting her now and regardless of whoever might be running in the future.
These officials are distinguished leaders who served their districts well – such as Carl McCall who was State Comptroller for 8 years.

And he owes it all to that wonderful small circus of charlatans who brought us the Apollo Theater and WBLS. When over 100 million dollars disappeared into Grasso’s little coin purse at the NYSE, McCall voted for it to happen, and then later said he didn’t know what he was voting for. All suit, no substance. And as for Gillibrand, were she anything other than ordinary, she, at her age, would have some definitive opinions that were not alterable depending upon who she is talking to or taking orders from.

Snore. I see porpoises repeat media talking points like most other uninformed people. Please do some research regarding Gillibrand’s very impressive progressive record, and her 68% approval rating Upstate, which she has earned through exceptional hard work, accessibility and receptivity to her constituents, and intelligent leadership. I live there, and we know talent when we see it. You just repeat media fodder. Go back out to sea.
