Democrats Coming To Westchester

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in David Paterson, Uncategorized on May 29, 2009

The state Democratic Committee is holding its 2009 Spring Business Meeting this weekend at the Hilton Rye Town hotel in Rye Brook.

Caucus meetings are planned Sunday morning and the general meeting starting in the afternoon, with an introduction by Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano, a keynote address by Gov. David Paterson and remarks by Sens. Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer and state Senate Majority Leader Malcolm Smith.

The convention comes amid speculation that plans had been underway for state Chairwoman June O’Neill to step down and become executive committee chairwoman, the Daily News reports. But that would mean moving Westchester County Democratic Chairman Reggie LaFayette out of the executive committee chairmanship.

LaFayette said such talk is news to him.

“I spoke to June this morning on some convention matters and this never came up,” he said. “I’m sure that June would have mentioned something to me.”

The D next to Spano’s name actually stands for something more than Democrat. Use your imagination.

It seems that Senator Parker has been Indicted for attacking a NY Post photographer this is the second democratic state senator. I wonder if the State Democrats will have anything to say about it. If this had been a Republican they would have a lot to say, but since it is a Democrat i am sure they will be …....

I also wonder what they will have to say about Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Schumer’s “BRAIN” Hank Morris who is a the center of a nationwide pensiongate scandal, many of those that have been named so far are FAT CAT DEMOCRATS, again of this were Republicans they along with “KING” Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Schumer would be screaming at the top of his lungs, but he too is silent I wonder why ???

D.A. DiFiore and County Executive Andrew Spano should both get the Conservative line, they are the best candidates to serve the people of Westchester County.

  7. smartporpoise

If Spano gets the Conservative endorsement, it will prove Mike Edelman correct about each and every of his many criticisms. What blatant hypocrisy if this were to come to pass!

  8. the consultant

allowing cross endorsements by minor parties is bad
public policy..as you know i have been saying that for
years..it empowers people like julio cavalo locally
and mike long state wide…it has totally emasculated
the power of the republican party to field candidates
who have the chance to win…if the conservative party
endorses andy spano for whatever the reason (and the
reason is unimportant because the policy doesn’t give
a rats ass about the reason) it will deny the voters
of westchester of the opportunity of making a choice
based on the issues and the candidates..that should
never happen in a two party democracy..and for the most
part it does not because ny is one of only five states
allowing a minor party to cross endorse a major one

rj, spano and difiore are very liberal, conservatives stand for less taxes, less gov’t, pro life and pro gun, spano and difiore are the opposite

  10. Definitions

“Very liberal Conservatives.” Well, ain’t that a new one? What’s next? “Serial Killers for Capital Punishment?”

  11. the consultant

when it comes to prosecuting crime there is no liberal
or conservative way to do it..there is no republican
or democratic way to do it…there is only the right
way….if conservatives stand for less government how
do you account for the republicans in washington under
W running the highest deficits in history..spending pork
wherever they can…and if conservatives believe in less
government how come its ok for the government to enter
your bedroom and control medical decisions like terry
schiavo and the right to terminate a pregnancy..conservatives are not conservatives..in the
barry goldwater sense of the word they have become
the voices of their own religious preferences foisted
    on others

  12. A Conservative

Conservatives only believe in smaller government when it comes to others. When it comes to candidates that they support and those candidates win the Conservative Party Leadership expect to have everyone in the Conservative Party on the payroll. The theory of Conservatives that believe in smaller government is hogwash. Michael Long NYS Conservative Chairman has been demanding jobs for Conservatives for years. This is how Party leaders operate, the Independent Party is just as bad, Cavallo is a whore when it comes to jobs and his support. Both parties should put up signs, “Our support goes to the person who promises jobs for our insiders”

thats exactly right its about extortion..not ideology

American Conservatism is founded on Religious Fundamentalism (specifically Christian) so you have to remember, to them (Conservatives), abortion, gay marriage, keep your feeding tube in, etc are not “Big Government” moves. When you find a Conservative who is not very religious you will find they do not care about those issues as much.

As long as Conservatism is connected to Christian Fundamentalism then it’s claims of Anti-Big Government will never be complete.

  15. smartporpoise

This is the prime reason for the Protestant Reformation. The ten commandments weren’t enough, so the Church added another thousand of their own – the inevitable direction of all organizations that become too large and powerful. And as with the Republicans under W, as referred to above, they came to the conclusion that nobody cared about deficits but loved pork so long as it came THEIR way. This financially debilitating, totally abused, ‘No Child Left Behind’ thing is a good example. Pretty soon every kid (a la Prince Albert) will “qualify” for his own personal tutor, or maybe six personal tutors, one for each subject.

  16. SR

Don’t forget that I didn’t hear many Conservatives expresing outrage over the billions in tax dollars diverted to “Faith Based Charities” under Bush. Clearly social programs and redistribution of wealth tactics. But seeing it was “Faith Based” everyone said thats fine.

  17. the consultant

that is the explicit contradiction of post goldwater
conservatism…goldwater was really an arizonan libertarian
my father played golf with him at the arizona biltmore.
barry’s philosophy was a live and let live kind of conservatism..strong national defense…small governement
spending etc..he was not hung up on and was not anxious
to have the government make laws affecting intimate personal
decisions…or gays in the military or abortion..the christian fundamentalists you allude to adopted some of
barry’s beliefs but they did it in the context of a religious doctrine..and they called themselves conservatives
but they really are reactionaries ..and they and the
talk show hosts who make huge amounts of money by
whipping up these easily convinced doctrinaire “conservatives” into a freenzy, are the reason
that the republican party is unable to expand beyond its
    southern white rural base

The Conservatives better wake up. We need two separate branches of Government. One party should never run any Government. No check and balances!!! I believe the majority of district leaders understand the Andy Spano does not have Conservative values. Just look at his actions over the last six years. I do believe it is over jobs, especially for the high ranking members. Also it is all about Yonkers and How they want to stay in favor with the State and Larry Schwartz to get money for their budget. I believe that the rank and file Conservatives will win out. Let’s hope otherwise there will be many less members!!

  19. rj

If the Conservatives support Andy Spano it will be because they know he is the best person for the job.

  20. ed1

Balogna. Sliced and wrapped. CONSERVATIVE? I’ve had enough of politicians telling us that black is white, two and two is five, money grows on trees, Red China is tableware, tax increases are really tax decreases, and pigs can fly. If voters in this county are dumb enough to believe that Andy Spano deserves more than even a fleeting thought as a Conservative candidate, look for a star to rise in the East announcing the coming of the second virgin birth.

  21. Conservative

The Conservative Party is made up of political whores seeking jobs, they do not care about policy. Just appointments for their people, cut the bull with the pigs can fly and the rest of your garbage. The endorsement is about who promises the most and best jobs. Cavallo cut his deal with Astorino ans the Conservatives will cut a deal with Mr. Spano. Cavallo is the walks around with a sign on his back that reads, “I am up for sale to the highest bidder”, I guess Astorino made the highest bid. Could you imagine the likes of Cavallo and his crew having a major say in Westchester Politics, that is scary.

What’s the difference anymore – who rules, who robs, who yaps? I give up. Every scantily-educated thimblehead has another screwball point of view. Every gavone with a tomato plant will tell you how to feed the world. No intelligent discourse. There’s not a statesman to be found. Arrogance and self=aggrandizement reigns. You roast and eat your potential and real philosophical relatives in the interest of feeding your own personal prejudices and pocketbooks. Most are as bad as their “enemies.” This is what we have progressed to from this once noble political experiment. You’re all nuts.
