Conservatives to meet tonight — who will they nominate?
Westchester Conservatives are meeting Thursday night in Yonkers to nominate candidates for county-wide office. The big question is who they’ll select — both County Executive Andrew Spano and his Republican challenger, Rob Astorino, want the nod.
While many rank-and-file Conservatives say Astorino is their guy, there is some speculation that Spano could get it. Read Phil Reisman’s take on what might happen.

Mr. Consultant you said Rob Astorino could not win if Andy Spano received the Conservative nod, what is your opition now?
Is it over for Rob Astorino?
I said it the other day, Mr. Spano gets the conservative line and the race is over.
astorino cannot win if he does not have three lines
but he can still opportunity to ballot and win the conservative line…tough to do but possible
Andrew Spano and Janet DiFiore are sitting in a verg strong position today. Both running on the Democratic line with 100,000 more registrered voters then the Republicans and now they both have the support of the Conservative line.
and that eliminates cavalo zherka and their gang from
controlling anything..david spano is out…zherka now won’t
waste a nickel on him…castro is out…he might have the
IND line..so what .he is a loser…I feel bad for rob
astorino…because for county executive there is a
large portion of voters who have had it with taxes and
spending and who really want a change..unfortunately
without the conservative line no republican can give
them that change…
The biggest winners in this whole thing is the residents of Westchester County. Zherka, Cavallo, Astorino and Schorr must have had a hard time sleeping last night.
Mr. Consultant, I don’t always agree with you, but with the above post we both feel the same way.
This shows why electoral fusion is disasterous. RJ is off: the biggest losers are Republican candidates down the ticket. Cavallo will now withdraw the I-line from candidates who have the C-line as payback, and Republicans can kiss legislator, supervisor, clerk and board races GOODBYE
You may be correct, but who is the real culprit? The real culprits are Dan Schorr and Rob Astorino who decided they wanted to whore themselves out to Cavallo and Zherka. Who will pay the price for that sale? You may have answered that question. This is actually said for the Republican Party, they are so desperate that they sell themselves and now they and others in the Republican Party will pay a price. Castro and Schorr took a calculated risk or gamble and they lost, they made poor decisions and now people in their party will pay for their bad judgment.
