Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Uncategorized on Jun 04, 2009

The state Legislature this week passed Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s consolidation bill, so now it’s headed to the governor for his signature.

Learn more about what some local leaders have to say about the law that would give taxpayers more power in getting rid of layers of local government.

Tune in at 11 a.m. Friday for a discussion on government consolidation when politcal reporter Gerald McKinstry talks with Larchmont Mayor Liz Feld, Rye Town Supervisor Joseph Carvin and County Legislator Ken Jenkins of Yonkers.

These enlightened leaders we elected up there are really quick when it comes to passing the buck to someone else to figure out. This bill has to be a record in alacrity. Let the locals try to cut and consolidate so that Albany can at the end deliver the real nut shot of higher State taxes to make up for the local savings. For now, it’s somebody else’s problem and they can get back to their roadie girlfriends, the noon martinis and to cashing the lobbyists’ checks.

BAD BILL. Let’s give 10% of New Yorkers the right to petition to get rid of County and State government in a referendum – NOW you’re talking!!!
