What matters in Carmel?

Posted by: Barbara Nackman - Posted in Carmel committees, Democrat, Democratic Party, Putnam Democrats on Jun 12, 2009

The Town of Carmel Democratic Committee wants to know what residents in Putnam County’s largest town consider to be the most pressing issues.

And to that end, they have extended an open invitation to residents to join them during a committee meeting next Tuesday in Mahopac.  In addition, candidates endorsed by the commitee for local office —Kevin McConville for Putnam County Sheriff, David McKay Wilson for Carmel Town Supervisor and Marc Pekowsky and Suzanne McDonough for Carmel Town Board—have also been invited to share their views, said the organizers Dave Gagliardi and Lillian Jones, the co-chairpeople of the town committee.

The meeting is at 7 p.m. at the Lantern Restaurant, Route 6 near Croton Falls Road.

  1. shame

Suzanne McDonough campaigning with this case of characters is going to be fun to watch. Watching her stand next to Wilson and Pekowsky will be an embarrassment to the McDonough name. I feel bad for Suzanne McDonugh, she does not belong with these clowns.

This will be one of the most convoluted races we have ever seen if it goes forward as is. You have Suzanne McDonough who is running against her best friend Allison Winstanley and the ticket of her brother-in-law Supervisor Kenneth Schmitt. This is going to cause many friendships and family members to choice a side, this could be really ugly. I would hope that the candidates realize that family and friends are more important then this stupid race. I am friends with all of them and feel like I am in a pressure cooker, this is bad. It appears the democrats are using Suzanne to give their ticket strength. Without Suzanne the Democrats have nothing, she is giving them life.

Rubbo, Shepand, Degiongio, Lesnick and Winnicici all waiting for Indepandence Party Leaders to regain sanity and make endorsements. This and the Westchester Consenative Tea Party at YonkersRising.com – Rising Times Blog.

Dear “Democrats Life” – just vote how your heart tells you to and remember that currently we still have the option to vote without letting anyone know specifically how we voted-helpful in situations like this.
    Best wishes to you.

GOP Girl, it is not as easy as you say, the vote is the easy part. The going back and forth up until the vote for family and friends is the problem. The vote will be the vote, the hard feelings and lost friendships with last forever.

Democrats life, I didn’t mean to say the job was easy, I meant to say to go with your heart when voting. Politics is neither kind or soft, but you can use a kind heart to make some very hard campaigning decisions, even with in-family challenges, and hopefully you’ll all be enjoying a happy Thanksgiving together.

It not about politics, I am not a political person so to speak. Those who play politics have the tough skin for the game, many of us are friends of the candidates and dislike politics. We are thrown into this mess because we are friends. It is like when your two friends get a divorse and you like them both equally, many times you cannot maintain a relationship with both because of friendships, hard feelings and complications. It is much bigger then closing the curin and voting in private, that is the easy part.

This democratic group are going to get crushed, I feel bad for Suzi, she is making a mistake.

I agree with Pamela, Suzi is making a mistake selling her soul, this will have long term effects on her and her relationships. The republican enrollment is to much for her to overcome.

“What happens in Carmel stays in Carmel”, they should do a reality show about O’Keefe, McDonough, Schmitt and best friend Winstanley. This is would be a great reality show.
The sister who decided to run because the brother was turned away from the leaders of the republican party. The mother who decided to run because what someone did to undermind her daughter who was a chairwomen of a political party and who was taken down by political bosses. The brother in law who is supervisor who is married to the mother of the daughter who was underminded and the sister of the brother who was thrown to the curb. Then for a little drama you add a best friend who decide to run againg her best friend. Wow, politics in Carmel are crazy.
