Diaz Rips Paterson, Meets With GOP

June
23

Bronx Sen. Ruben Diaz, D-Bronx, put out a scathing statement today over Gov. David Paterson’s handling of the special session, saying “today’s ssession has been another incompetent act of Governor Paterson.”

Lawmakers said Paterson erred in calling the special session only for the Senate because both the Assembly and the Senate would have to pass the same bills. So any bills passed by the Assembly in regular session wouldn’t be the same bills passed by the Senate in the special session.

But after Paterson put same-sex marriage legislation on his bill list for tomorrow, Diaz marched over to the Republicans chambers. If Diaz, a staunch opponent of same-sex marriage, was to join with Republicans, they would have the 32 votes necessary to hold the majority.

Diaz wouldn’t say why he went into the Republican chambers, emerging to say he only went there to have a sandwich. But he told reporters he would not be switching.

Kruger, Diaz and Sens. Pedro Espada, D-Bronx, and Hiram Monserrate, D-Queens, formed the Gang of Four last year and held out support of Malcolm Smith as majority leader. They ultimately backed Smith, but Espada and Monserrate joined Republicans in the June 8 coup. Monserrate switched back last week.

If New York State were a nation, with this leadership, it couldn’t kick Bridgeport’s ass.

Diaz, Kruger, Monserrate, Espada – these are no Democrats. They are Me-o-crats, with an interest in their own pockets and their own ideology. The Republicans have 30 Senators, the Dems have 28 Senators, and there are 4 Me-o-Crats, who can always be bought for the right price. Democrats will need to win about 5 more races in 2010 to actually control the chamber. That won’t happen. The Republicans will continue to rule.

    DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOFUS

Oh just let the Republicans have control already. They’ll have the majority anyway when Diaz, Monserrate, and Espada are in jail.

  4. Give Me A Break

Give me a break Doofus, name 3 senators who are not Me-o-crats.

If you believe that I have a bridge to sell you

I guess all the politicians and politically connected in Yonkers would be called auto-crats in that none of them ever pay for their own transportation. Sorry, no fireworks.

Mr. Diaz, please go over to the Republican side so that we can have a majority and maybe get a clear leader who is in charge. This guy Monsterrate he is even incompetent at betrayal. What can he do correctly? The Democrats are just as power hungery as the Republican for talking him back on their team. How can they trust him? Monsterrate, please have some self respect and resign because your word is not good to either side.
