Schorr gets (the other) PBA endorsement

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Dan Schorr, Uncategorized on Jun 29, 2009

Dan Schorr, the Republican candidate for district attorney, on Monday got an endorsement from the Police Benevolent Association of Westchester.

The PBA of Westchester is a fraternal membership organization made up of police from all over Westchester — it’s the oldest PBA in Westchester. It’s different from the Westchester County Police Department Police Benevolent Association, which represents roughly 300 county police officers, detectives and sergeants and a staff of 50 civilian employees.

Schorr received the endorsement in a unanimous vote.

“The PBA of Westchester endorses Dan Schorr because of his deep prosecutorial experience and his commitment to fully charging violent felons for their crimes,” said Joseph Giustino, chairman of the PBA of Westchester Endorsement Committee. “The PBA of Westchester is also impressed by Mr. Schorr’s commitment to crack down on sexual predators in Westchester and provide essential services and protections to victims of domestic violence. The PBA of Westchester is confident that Mr. Schorr will back up the police work of our members and make an outstanding DA.”

The group previously endorsed Rob Astorino for county executive, causing a tiff between County Executive Andrew Spano and the organization after a campaign spokesman said it was a fringe organization with no bargaining power. Astorino then called for an apology, though the Spano camp offered a clarification explaining their comments.

Did the PBA of Westchester interview all candidates or was this another one of those do me a favor endorsements where no candidates are interviewed? If there were no interviews then the endorsement will and should be called into question. No interviews make an organization look bad and gives itself no credibility.

Let’s talk facts, not nonsense, shall we? Where is the oddball cop who would endorse (or vote for) a liberal democrat for any office? Unless there is a prize offered sufficient enough to dump one’s personal, inherent natural opinions, there are few such animals.

This important endorsement for Dan Schorr from an independent police organization,is the beginning of the end for Ms. DiFiore. She has been no colleague to the law enforcement community, she had NO police officers stand with her at her re-election announcement. She can’t be trusted to prosecute crime and put criminals away. For Ms. D, no trial, just cheap plea bargains for the crooks. She deserves to be ousted from a job she has done badly.

Other than felons and those depending upon political patronage, who cares?

  9. and that

You may have a point, that is why Mrs. Difiore will get reelected easy once again. I saw Mrs. Difiore on News 12 today and she does appear to have the look of a confident person who will be reelected. This guy Mr. Castro is only helping her with his silly comments about endorsements.
