Democrats Back Out Of Leaders Meeting

Senate Democrats just put this statement about today’s noon leaders meeting that Senate Republicans and Sen. Pedro Espada, D-Bronx, called.
“The Senate Democratic Conference has informed Senators Skelos and Espada that we would like to conduct a public leaders meeting tomorrow which will allow us the time to work on arrangements and an agenda to ensure a productive negotiation.”

These legislators should collectively sue the governor for impeding and interrupting their normal efforts to meet with lobbyists and other special interests whereby they can make money, solidify deals, and originate and peddle influence. Too much money and chicanery is sitting on the sidelines waiting to see where the true power will eventually reside. If, as the former Democratic majority leader was quoted as saying to assembled lobbyist/golfers, “You Gotta Pay to Play,” in the interests of fairness, and the good government we are used to, the governor should be forced to let the games resume as per usual.
