Conservative Party picks Spano — again

Posted by: Gerald McKinstry - Posted in Andrew Spano, Rob Astorino, Uncategorized on Jul 20, 2009

The Westchester County Conservative Party today endorsed Andrew Spano in his run for county executive. It’s the second time in two months that the party has endorsed Spano, a Democrat, over his Republican challenger Rob Astorino.

The closed-door meeting was held at 12:30 p.m. today at Silvio’s restaurant in Yonkers.

It’s unclear why the party held a second vote (some party members objected to it), though the first one was mired in controversy when some district leaders complained that party leaders ignored the will of members and manipulated the vote since most of the votes cast, approximately 90 percent, were by weighted votes or proxies.

Today is also the deadline to file a Wilson Pakula, whereby a political party gives a candidate the authority to run on their lines even though that candidate is not a member of that party.

It is expected that today’s vote will be legally challenged.

This is laughable. The Westchester CP is a joke.

    Throw ‘em all out!

the fact is that the conservative party actually supported
spano by a bigger margin than the first time when he
just squeeked by..just another reason to abolish cross
endorsements..these minor parties are taking the ability
to have a contested election away from the voters…

Andy Spano is a gentleman and deserves to be reelected, I ran into him at the Kenisco Dam this weekend and he interacts and communicates with the people of Westchester in a very respectful manner.

In that case, elect him interactor in chief, or appoint him greeter at WC Airport. We find him too expensive and financially profligate to be C. Exec.

Andy doesn’t have a Conservative bone in his body!! I hope the Real Conservatives of Westchester County realize this at Election time. This once again appears like a pay off for some kind of job or favors for the one that really runs the Conservative party, Nick Spano.
Once again these Nick Spano operatives are making the deals with the devil and selling their souls, esp. Gail Burns.
Astorino meets the values of the Conservatives , compare for yourself. Call both Candidates and ask about guns, abortion, and fiscal conservatism. Check their records!!! Then in November pick the real Conservative and vote on the Republican line. This Conservative Chairman is a disgrace and her governing body.

    abolish cross endorsements

Hey Lady when will people like you stop blaming Nick Spano for everything that happens in Westchester. Why don’t you blame him for the circus in Albany called the Senate that just happened, I suppose that was his fault also. Astrino lost the last time out and he will lose this time out, get over yourself, most registered conservatives don’t believe the way you think they do!

Someone is in for a rude awakening.

This is not the first time Andy Spano has been endorsed by the Conservatives, let’s get the facts straight. As a matter of record they have also endorsed Democrat Janet DiFiore. The Conservatives are smart, they are quietly helping to take the power out of Cavallo’s hand and they are teaching him a lesson about smaller party endorsements. There is a much bigger picture before us then most in the public know. The Conservatives making this move is a way of sending a clear message to some insiders who think they can control things. It is insider’s pool through a game of political chess. The difference about this game of chess is there ca not be a stalemate, there will be a winner at the end of the day. Besides the candidates themselves, there is a big battle to decide who will have political power over the next four years. It appears to me that the Conservatives are better chess players.

pamela is right on the nose..conservatives looked at the
control that cavalo was exerting over the process and they
said to themselves that the cavalo zherka axis was
unacceptable…so they took matters into their own hands

When you speak of conservatives, of whom do you speak? Do you speak of the few who seek only personal political and financial gain, or for the many thousands of conservatives who vote from principle, RIGHT OF CENTER en-masse?
