DNC hires NY staff to advance Obama’s agenda
President Obama’s Organizing for America project under the Democratic National Committee has hired three staff people in New York to build on and strengthen the “historic grassroots network created during the Obama campaign” and advance his agenda on economic recovery, the federal budget, health-care reform and other issues.
Organizing for America is based out of Albany and recently opened an office in New York City. The DNC said it will continue to expand its New York operations in the coming months. The state director is Melissa DeRosa, former director of communications for Cordo & Co., a government relations and law firm, and previously held other political and media jobs.
“OFA has quickly become a way for people in communities across the country to make their voices heard on Capitol Hill and delivering on the president’s promise to change the way Washington works,” she said in a statement.
The other hires are Moira Kelley and Geoff Berman as regional field directors. Kelley was a field organizer for the Obama for America campaign in the Hudson Valley and Westchester County last year. Berman was a field organizer in Missouri during the campaign.
