Senate GOP: We hope Paterson means it

August
4

This is what Senate Minority Leader Dean Skelos, R-Nassau County, had to say in response to Gov. David Paterson’s comment today that he doesn’t want to raise taxes and fees to close the budget gap. Paterson’s Division of Budget announced last week that the state has a budget deficit of $2.1 billion. The governor said he plans to call lawmakers back into session this fall to get rid of the deficit.

“His budget, which was supported by every Democrat in the Senate and opposed by every Republican, increased taxes and fees by more than $8 billion and took STAR property tax rebate checks away from homeowners. His MTA plan also raised taxes on jobs by another $2 billion.

“We certainly hope the Governor means what he says this time. New Yorkers, who are sick of paying more in property and other taxes, hope he means it as well.”

I wonder how he is going to sell this to his former “Friends” at the Democratic Senate Crazy Committee, their tax increases are INSANE.

gotta respect paterson when he’s laying down the law. i’m tired of both parties in albany and hope we purge a lot of those clowns. at least paterson’s recovery plan is all about job creation, has nothin to do with taxes. at least i think:
