This is from staff writer Jorge Fitz-Gibbon:
Westchester County Executive Andrew Spano will carry the Conservative Party line in next month’s primaries, a state judge ruled today.
In two separate rulings, state Supreme Court Justice Nicholas Colabella dismissed claims in lawsuits by Conservative Party members who said Spano and District Attorney Janet DiFiore, both Democrats, improperly got the party’s endorsement in June.
Colabella said, in part, that more than 3,000 proxy votes cast by Conservative Party Chairwoman Gail Burns to back Spano and DiFiore were properly used.
“The foregoing demonstrates that petitioners had an opportunity to review the proxies and to object at the meeting, but did not do so and, in fact, participated in and ratified the use of the proxies at the meeting,” Colabella wrote.

Hopefully now those dissidents in the Conservative Party will get the message, the Conservative Line will belong to DiFiore and Spano, end pf story.
Dissidents? Are you and yours ever in for a shock.
I hope the conservs do take this to appelate court. I know it costs, but this decision was one of the worst ever. And they should have known not to give the judge a two parter, so he would only rule on the part of least damage to his political career.
And BURNS needs to go!
She is using the party vote for her own agenda and flaunting it in the face of the constituents.
Isn’t there any way to impeach her in the rules and regs of the party mission?
the appellate courts will generally not overturn a finding
of fact by a lower court, especially a supreme court justice
if the judge is wrong on the law that is another story
this decision was based on a finding of fact..not law
game over
This is a systemic problem that has gone unchecked for years as we move toward the one-party system of government in NY=the liberal democratic left. It’s sad…
I heard 8th Legislative District Candidate on WVOX yesterday discussing his plan for housing affordability in Westchester. He made a lot of cognizant and intelligent points about how to help control and solve the issues that Spano and the Board of Legislators admitted through a deal/settlement with the courts over segregation in Westchester.
We need to clean house in Westchester and remove as many incumbents as possible. Start by electing new voices and honest people who can think outside the box like Tom Bock for District 8.
It is astonishing to me how a few rouge conservatives want to go against their party leader and have the Conservative Party become partners with Cavallo and Zherka. There is much at state here besides who get elected. Cavallo is pushing this issue from behind the scenes because he realizes he made a major political blunder by befriending Zherka and his team of Castro and Lovett. This has more to do with Cavallo trying to influence things in Westchester County and attempting to live up to his self proclaimed title of
“I am the King”. Cavallo and those trying to undermined the Conservative Party selection are all the same, they want power for themselves, they do not care about the people of Westchester they care about themselves and the power they desire. Cavallo can often be heard at different functions telling people he decides who get elected, Cavallo actually believes he runs Westchester Politics. The Conservatives were smart for distancing themselves from Cavallo and his cohorts. Gail Burns and the Conservative Party did what is best for Westchester County and its residents, we can not allow the likes of Cavallo and Zherka to think they are the power brokers in Westchester County. Andy Spano and Janet DiFiore are excellent choices to serve the people of Westchester County.

“Rouge” conservatives? A comedian couldn’t make that up. Or, should I say: makeup? Your distrust of all the political types you mentioned may be well-founded, but, in the absence of their own candidate, the true conservative backing would go to the Republican for county exec, and, additionally to the Republican, not the Democrat Castro for DA. It is patently obvious that you enjoy playing word golf by throwing your vitriol at any and every one who would prefer to vote against DiFiore. Anyone in the know realizes that the Conservative line was stolen specifically for Spano, and Ms. DiFiore benefits by the coattail theory.
common sense you are not really correct…the conservative
party vote differed from difiore to spano..difiore got over
70% spano did not..there were other reasons that the conservatives chose difiore who ,by the way, they endorsed
four years ago for da, over schorr….I suggest you call
some conservatives and they will explain their position
on the chief law enforcement job to you….its about
experience professionalism demonstrated competence
and effective law enforcement….police groups from
all over support difiore as well…the da is not an
ideological position…because fighting crime is not
a republican or democratic function….those who have
worked in law enforcement understand that …those who
are appended to a particular political party may
not
The old self-serving Frank Hogan quip again. Getting lots of mileage out of that little ditty, eh?
Hey Frank was a great prosecutor..so was burt so
was Carl…tradition requires integrity and experience
and maturity….but go ask the conservatives and they
will be a little more frank with you
