Cox Set To Be Named State GOP Chairman Today

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Sep 29, 2009

Ed Cox, son-in-law to late President Nixon, is set to be tapped today as the state Republican Committee chairman when party leaders meet outside Albany this afternoon for their fall convention.

Cox indicated today that he would prefer former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani consider running for U.S Senate instead of governor and that Giuliani hasn’t even called him back.

Senate Minority Leader Dean Skelos, R-Nassau County, said this morning on Fred Dicker’s radio show that he hopes Giuliani runs for governor. Giuliani has said no decision will be made until after the November elections.

“I hope the mayor makes a decision to run for governor,” Skelos said. “And makes the decision, as he said, in a positive way that he will run after this year’s election and then I think everything else will fall into place.”

    cox’s instincts are correct…giuliani is a far
stronger candidate for the us senate than for overnor
gillibrand is a weak dem…not like andy cuomo…
    gillibrand cannot attract ethnic deocrats..giuiliani
can…natinal issues are in the forefront health care
iran. terrorism…these are more likely to attract
dems to a republican than loal issues..so the y gop
would be better off with giulinai as senate candidate

Speaking of Cox’s instincts, you think that, in the interest of party unity and amity and common courtesy, he might have spoken to Rudy before going public with his pontifications?

Not being from New York, I beleive Cox should be given a chance to voice his choices this is how one gets to know people. Giuliani would do better in the Senate, he certainly embarrased himself running for the Presidency.
