A few hundred health-care workers and concerned citizens are protesting at the state Capitol today against mandatory swine flu vaccinations. Nurses from the Poughkeepsie area, Rochester region and other parts of New York said they don’t think they should be forced to get a vaccine that has been fast-tracked and that they don’t believe has been tested appropriately as a condition of keeping their jobs.
  In previous years, health-care workers were urged but not required to get flu shots each winter season. But this year, with the expected return of the swine-flu virus, they are being required to get both seasonal flu and H1N1 vaccines. The swine-flu vaccines are expected to hit the market in the coming weeks.
  Many protesters are carrying home-made signs with sayings like, “We’re not lab rats” and “No flu shot no job?”

isn’t this going to backfire in their faces. once it gets out how little confidence the health care workers have in the vaccine, the uneducated patients are going to say, why should i take it. so keep on trying to force it on health care workers and you will see how quickly it will all backfire and no one will want to get the vaccinations. good job albany legislators! try thinking about things before you enact them
Exactly! All the idiots in Albany have done is reduce the numbers of people who will get the vaccine-the opposite of what they intended! I personally think that is a good thing, as this vaccine is untested and shouldn’t be given like this, but it’s hysterical how the mandate will actually work against them…
You need to read Mike Adam’s—the Health Rangers writings on this. Dr. Russell Blaylock, MD, also has some great information. Nothing like mandating something that has some suspect ingredients that in the past have caused more problems than the actual illness. If the vaccine kills you or causes you to develop some neurological health issues later on, you will not be able to get any compensation thanks to our Kathleen Sebelius’s deal with the pharmaceuticals to make sure you can’t sue them. Gulf War Syndrome may have ties to the last time our troops were forced to take vaccinations. Having enough Vitamin D in your system helps the immune system better than a flu shot (especially one that has not been adequately tested for safety.)Vitamin D does not make money and flu shots do.
Our “leaders” haven’t yet told us the truth of what really happened on September 11, 2001 or the reasons for the US invasionart wars and terrorism they brought on to Afganistan and Iraq, how can we again blindly trust what they tell us about the Swine Flu? Where really did that flu come from? WHO profits? Was the flu created especially for the profits? Is the vacine safe? Why is there now a law prohibiting suit for damages against those that created the unproven safe vacine? There are too many questions that yet must be honestly resolved.
Mandatory vaccinations are NEVER going to come to fruition…..Practically no one trusts the government anymore, and we are working on the stragglers….
I am a physical therapist who has encountered many people over the years who have suffered serious neurological complications after receiving their flu shots. I didn’t believe in flu shots 25 years ago and what I have witnessed has only served to strengthened my belief. There is much $$$ to be made by pushing this vaccine on ill-informed and overly trusting people who have been manipulated and bombarded by fear mongering media.
Hopefully others will follow suit and stand against the mandatory vaccines. It seems that daily we are coming closer and closer to a police state, corporate rule and complete suppression of individual rights. A few years ago I read a quote attributed to Adolph Hitler… “It is good for government that the people do not think.” How sadly true and frightening.
The vaccine isn’t the problem. It’s the additives…like squalene and mercury. What do you think caused “Gulf War Syndrome”? The antrax highballs that were injected caused countless thousands to suffer permenant damage and /or death. Where do you think autism comes from? It’s the vaccines. It was unheard of 30yrs ago. I’m in healthcare. If I can’t go into a hospital w/o the shot..so be it.

Whether I am for or against injecting something into my body, it’s absolutely wrong a government, or anyone, could make something mandatory for me to put something into my body (especially if I’m against it). It’s our bodies and we should have the freedom of choice (after all in America I thought we had freedom of choice). If this becomes mandatory, what next? Is it ironic that it’s extremely difficult to find out what they exactly put in vaccines? Maybe the government should display what is in vaccines so people could be better educated (do we not look at the ingredients of food we buy)? Then why wouldn’t we want to know what’s in a vaccine going in our body? If you are taking it without the knowledge or giving to your kids with out the knowledge is kind of foolish.

If you want to defeat the NYS Health Department and the jerk Daines I suggest all the nurses in the state unify and call for a massive boycott. I suggest we pick a day and not show up for work. Let’s see how Daines will deal with it and the rest of the morons in Albany including the blind bat. I doubt seriously anybody created this virus. Its very common for influenza virus’s to re assort themselves and gain resistance or characteristic symptoms. Influenza viruses are usually unique to a species – the receptor sites are usually much weaker across species. Unfortunately pigs can carry human, bird, and swine flu viruses. They are close enough to bridge the gap between bird and human influenza gene pools. Avian flu (h5n1) can sometimes spread from bird to person, but rarely if ever to additional humans after the initial infection. Pigs provide a sort of bridge for these gene pools to mix. If a host is infected with two strains at the same time, some of the components of the virus in dually infected cells will often recombine allowing for genetics from bird influenza strains to enter human strains. Since we have not been exposed to these before and do not have immunity, they are often times more damaging than a traditional flu bug. Influenza had devastating effects on the original inhabitants of North and South America, largely due to lack of previous exposure.
if a boycott was put together that would be amazingly powerful…everything would grind to a halt. Give a heads up to administrators maybe as we wouldn’t want patients hurt AND the power of nurses, doctors and others needs to be seen and felt.

So if the Asian pig visited the European pig, met with a bird, and they all got sick, one of the pigs went to Mexico, then why did W.H.O know almost imidiately the swine flu had nothing to do with pigs. Where are these sick pigs? Why did W.H.O. urge us to continue eating pork? Not to anger the pork industry I guess, otherwise the pork industry with all their money and influence might look into where the virus actually came from.
The Australian scientist who developed Tamiflu, said in the very beginning of this mess, this combination has to be laboratory created. W.H.O. told the world 1/2 an hour later, it wasn`t. So it`s not the pigs, it`s not the laboratory, maybe it`s the Joker, and we all live in Gotham City.
For Vinnie, I agree with everyone, the government should not be able to dictate something of this nature, especially where they are “invading” someone’s body or right of choice, but what bothers and offends me is the careless disregard with which some (not all) health care professionals would be demonstrating by walking out, seems to me that would endanger innocent lives as well, so which is worse? There has to be a better way to handle it. I just wish I know what it was.
I’ve just ahd a long talk with my teenage daughter why she shouldn’t go into the healthcare field – this is a perfect example. Congratulations health commissioner – you single handedly figured out how to make the healthcare crisis worse – no parent will want their kids becoming pincusions to work in this field. I don’t want to pay higher insurance costs for all the docs and nurses who get sick from the shot either.

I get so angry just hearing stuff like this on the news. i agree with the previous post. they turned around and said that it wasnt the pigs because the pork industry would lose money and fight back and of course the goverment doenst want anyone with money to prove them wrong. all the food we eat is poisoned with things to make them last longer then they are NATURALLY supposed to, OR poisoned with msg to make them taste better and get us addicted to eating more and more. america is the fattest country because of the goverment and its greed. Abosolutley no one should take this shot, it has all kinds of chemicals in it that wil cause damage to the brain and to the body, this is just onther way for the government to controll, and the drug companys to make money! People should know that if they get the flu that there are other ways to get better, natural ways, and search out whats really in the flu shot before you take it!

Well would you rather suffer serious side effect with the admisinistration of a vaccine which lacks quality control being rushed through for the masses of healthcare. Are you willing to compromise your own health for some beaurocratic who is out in left field. Daines is a Jackass in my book. So ask yourself what good is taking care of patients when you shall potentially comprimise your own health with a risk. Again if nurses want to send a message all must walk out and let Daines and his whacky department fend for every hospital in NYS. Masses rule the government. The goverment can’t rule the masses. This is the problem with nurses everyone isn’t on the same page. Look at the physicians they won’t take it. They will make every excuse in the book. The ACLU should immediatly file a lawsuit against this unlawfull invasion into healthcare workers bodies. For the love of god I have never read such inane nonsense in my life, and it has reminded me why I usually avoid internet comment sections. For starters, Swine Flu is not a new virus, it far predates any kind of technology capable of engineering such a thing, there is no way that it was artificially created. Indeed, its long and devastating history is the reason why experts are so concerned. The 1918 outbreak of the h1n1 influenza strain was the most devastating pandemic in all of recorded history.
There is no causal link between autism and vaccines, nor has anyone ever been able to explain even a rational theoretical one. Indeed, due to the insane and pseudoscientific “outrage” and the subsequent “research,” vaccines are the one thing we can really say DON’T cause autism.
No one is forcing anyone to take a vaccine, they’re making a proper safety precaution a condition for holding a job, which is well within the rights of the employer for even the most stringent of libertarians.

Had the flu vaccine today only because I am a health care worker,and my hospital says we must take it or loose our job. I do not want to loose my job. I have not had the flu shot yet and I don’t want to have that eighter. Why aren’t
the nursing unions standing behind us.
Pray to God that all will be ok, because god forbid if our children get it because of our choice or if we give it to others because of our choice not to take it. I would just die if i gave it to a child. As i sit hear and read this i am scared to death. I have one child and will not and cant have another. I feel i am going to have to flip a coin for my own child who is only 11. I just don’t know what to do. I went to see my childs doctor and she is gettin the shot and is big on gettin the shot and says my daughter should have it ot, I am bringing my daughter in for her regular winter flu shot and im thinking,, what if the doctor comes out with the swine flu shot and the regular flu shot and gives me only a minute to decide. God help me! I could fail my daughter by having her get the shot or i could possibly save her life by getting the shot. What the hell am i going to do. I dont know who to trust. I feel i have an hour glass before me and i have only so long to decide and im playing russian roulette with my daughters life. The clock is tickin and im scared of both options. I used to feel safe and had trust for our health care system and now i dont know if the nurses and doctors are really stand ins for the real ones that are protesting or quit their jobs, because of fear of the vaccine and of their own safety. ITs like i have to make a decision quick because the flu season is just about upon us and in some places have already started. What are we to do… God help us all. I am not a health care worker but feel the panic and stress as a mother as well. I guess all we can do is hope for the best and hope to find the answers fast. Im not sure if we will. ITs hard to be an optimistic person in all of this. I think all kids should start wearing masks now and not be required to have gym so there spreading it even worse and maybe all these kids need gloves as well ,, or maybe they all need to be sent home and watch their lessons on a local station at a set time. GAWDDDD !!! Why dont we all just put big walls around our citys and towns!! This is not only ridiculously scary but terrifying at the same time that our lives are being gambled with in such a way as this!!!
Does anyone know if they will make the shot madatory for children in highschool??? I already had the illness and it really wasnt that bad!!! I think it ought to be a case by case scenario – not a blanket ruling. My parents CHOSE to have me innoculated with a trial German Measles vaccine, I was 3 – I developed type 1 diabetes shortly thereafter (I had an endocrinolgist in my later years who had found a link to German Measles and Diabetes). My parents took a chance – but they had a choice. NO ONE should be FORCED into taking the vaccine.
We were mandated by our employer to receive H1N1 and other seasonal flu shot by mid November. I have been in contact with NYCLU and a NYC judge has issued temporary restaining order on these mandates until 10/30/09. As it’s already been stated, most opposition to the vaccine is about not trusting the government and the government sleeping in the same bed with big business, i.e., Big Pharma. This whole thing is hitting a nerve in the collective conscience of the American people. We will not succumb to Big Brother.
The government forcing H1N1 vaccines onto healthcare workers is self defeating when all these workers become infected with the swine virus. There should be no mandating of an untested and unproven vaccine which will cause permanent damage to the immune system. Also giving this to a pregnant woman is against the ban from the 1960’s which prohibits injecting pregnant women with “any” drug especially experimental ones such as this. Ban the swine flu vaccine-it is a chemical cocktail for drug company profits -and nothing else.

I am a former US Army soldier. I recieved a flu shot for the first time I remeber at a training school in 2004. It was mandatory for us. Two days later I became very Ill and was quarantined with about 30 other soldiers in a manufactured trailer. I was horrible. I will never take a flu shot again. I have gotten the flu before when i was younger and I know what ever it was I revieved was not the normal flu. I have never been that sick in my life.
Well all I can say is we trust our doctors with vaccinations for our children…. I think if you trust your doctor you should do what he says. They went to medical school for something. I don’t think all pharma companies and there employees are evil and want to kill us to reduce the population. There are evil people but not so many evil people that they would kill innocent adults and children. I don’t trust government either but I do think people in general are good :) I know of three cases in my small town of children dying of h1n1 and the complications from this virus. Im not going to take a chance if I can prevent it. Medicine does save lives everyday. Pharma companies are in business to make money too so is every other business in the world they also want to save lives and help people. Think about your friend, the scientist working for pharma- im sure they are not trying to kill you or cause you to become sick. They go to all that schooling to help people and make a good living. I too am nervous about injecting myself. Would you trust your doctor to administer chemo or any other medication to help you if you are sick. Why is this any different. Have some faith….Vaccinate!
government is not evil trying to kill us..they are simply using people to make money..if whatever they approve of kills us, it’s fine, as long as they make money off of it. Sitting at home with one kid with pneumonia as a secondary comnplication of H1N1 and three other kids who are sick as dogs with it and one more likely to get pneumonia, I wish we had had a chance to get the vaccine. Too bad it wasn’t easily available.
