Amicone withdraws Inspector General nominee

Posted by: egarcia - Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 09, 2009

Yonkers Mayor Phil Amincone withdrew his nominee to replace Yonkers Inspector General Philip Zisman yesterday.

Last month Amicone announced White Plains Supreme Court attorney Michael J. White as his nominee, but White, of Mohegan Lake, apparently had a change of heart after a confirmation hearing with City Council members who support Zisman on Sept. 22.

“The mayor had a conversation with Mr. White yesterday and Mr. White informed him he was no longer interested in the position and asked that his name be withdrawn,” said Amicone’s spokesman David Simpson earlier today.

”(Amicone’s) in the process of evaluating what his options are and one of those options would be nominating another candidate. Of course, until he does that, Phil Zisman will continue to serve in his capacity as inspector general,” Simpson said.

Amicone is a mess, he is a poor leader. Word around town is he is secretly trying to get Annabi elected. He is a snake in the grass.

    To Poppy,

This comment surprises me. Didn’t think he was one of her supporters.

mr zisman should still be permitted to conduct his ongoing
investigations…it doesn’t pass the smell test that he
is being ousted while they are pending..if the mayor wants
to have any credibility going forward in terms of electability to any other office including mayor again
these kinds of moves have to be thought out at a higher
level than they are currently being weighed
