Lazio Blames Albany Dysfunction For Empty Trust Fund

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Oct 20, 2009

Responding to today’s article about the deficit in the state’s unemployment fund, Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio blamed it on Albany’s ineffectiveness.

“Our leaders in Albany have known for a long time that the unemployment trust fund was unsustainable and running out of money, and their lack of decisive action is both unfair to businesses and to the people who rely on these benefits,” he said in a statement.

“Our government is broken, it’s dysfunctional and it doesn’t work. No one wants to take responsibility and our problems are unaddressed. When I’m governor, I’ll implement sweeping, fundamental reforms so that Albany is held accountable to the people of New York. We don’t have any time to waste.”
