Paterson Calls Special Session
Gov. David Paterson yesterday said he will call the Legislature back for a special session Nov. 10, after initially indicating he wanted it in late September and then this week.
Paterson also announced he’s holding a public leaders’ meeting Thursday in New York City. He’s also asked to address the full Legislature on Nov. 9 to discuss the state’s fiscal problems.
“In this fiscal crisis, we cannot afford to delay action or continue spending at our current rate. The Deficit Reduction Plan, while painful, calls for the necessary sacrifices we need to keep our State afloat,” Paterson said in a statement.
His budget office said it is putting out a daily “Did You Know” on his budget-cutting plan. Today’s installment notes that “did you know that 95 percent of school districts have reported undesignated reserves in excess of their proposed DRP reduction?”
The budget office also put out a list of each district’s reserves.
