Yonkers candidate holds anti-violence rally tonight
Yonkers City Council candidate Virginia Perez will hold an anti-violence march and rally tonight starting at 6 p.m.
Perez is running on minor party lines in the Second District against Democrat Wilson Terrero, who beat her in the primary by just five votes.
The march will begin at 435 Riverdale Ave. and then up Riverdale to City Hall for a candlelight vigil.
The event commemorates victims of violence in the city, including Perez’s brother Martin Perez, who was murdered at 50 Hawthorne Ave. while delivering food in 2007.
Perez has based her run for office on a public-safety platform in memory of her brother.
