Scozzafava Resigns From Leadership Post

November
9

Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava, the Republican candidate in the 23rd Congressional District race who left the race and backed the Democratic candidate, has agreed to resign from her $16,500-a-year leadership position, Assembly Minority Leader Brian Kolb said this evening.

The move had been expected since Scozzafava’s endorsement of Democratic candidate Bill Owens, who ultimately won a nationally watched House seat that Republicans had held for more than a century.

Scozzafava’s decision comes after members of the Assembly Republican conference had expressed displeasure with her backing the Democratic candidate.

She served as the conference’s minority whip, which comes with a $16,500 a year stipend.

“Today, I had a thorough and frank discussion with Assemblywoman Scozzafava. As a result, Dede has tendered, and I accepted, her resignation as our conference’s leader pro tempore,” Kolb said in a statement.

“Over the coming weeks, I will be assessing who will serve as our conference’s next leader pro tempore to lead  our Assembly floor debates.”

I think Assemblyman Greg Ball would serve as an excellent pro temporpro to lead the republican conference.

  2. lol

Like Dede Scozzafava, Ball votes with the Democrats more often then he votes with the Republicans. So if that is your logic, to find another Dede, then yes, Greg Ball would serve as an excellent pro tempore leader.

All of his bills with Senate sponsors are sponsored by Senate Democrats. And let’s not forget this guy first tried to run against Willis Stephens as a Democrat. Oh, and then there’s the $10,000s of campaign contributions from unions and union lobbyists.

Ball and Scozzafava are wholly owned subsidiaries of organized labor, that must be why the NRCC loves them so.

    Are you serious Matt.

You just wait and see, there is a bigger picture here, you cannot be so short sighted. Many have attacked Assemblyman Ball in the past with such garbage as above and the Assemblyman gets reelected. It is more about speaking your mind honestly then hiding behind lies. Assemblyman Ball has shown the public that he cares about them and the issues that impact them the most. People Love Assemblyman Ball.

The fact that she even WAS leader pro tem tells the whole story about the impotence and irrelevance of the Republican Party in this State. New leaders needed. Apply within.

It is a least the GOP Party can do for a sell out like Dede.

It is not like she was NOT advised months in advance that her stances would not float with GOP base supporters. (Dumb)

Remember Dede was selected not by the people in a primary, but by the buying of County Chairs in a back room deal.

Same thing as in Westchester, which was worse, with the Conservative cabal, the Republican “leadership,” and Nick and Andy Spano. Long finally sounded off. Did anyone else?

Something tells me that the poster Matt above forgot to add “Neuringer” to his name. Pfft.
