Bruno: “I Did Nothing Wrong”
With his federal corruption trial in its second week, former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, R-Brunswick, Rensselaer County, continues to proclaim his innocence as the prosecution seeks to builds its case in federal court against him.
“I did nothing wrong. I was charged with no specific crime. I did business within the rules and the law as a part-time senator,” Bruno said this morning on Fred Dicker’s radio show in Albany.
Prosecutors have focused on Bruno’s outside business dealings and whether he steered state contracts to firms with which he had relationships.
On Tuesday, prosecutors called North Country Republican Sen. Betty Little to testify over grants that she received for her district that benefited groups Bruno had contracts with.
But Bruno, as he has since he was charged in January, has denied any wrongdoing, saying that as a part-time lawmaker, he was able to have outside income. Prosecutors charged that Bruno received more than $3.2 million from companies in exchange for his influence.
“I never abused the public trust that people put in me. I never used politics to make money. I just never did that,” Bruno said.
The trial will resume tomorrow.

All of which begs the question: Why would anyone give him dollar one if not for his proffering influence? What could he possibly do for any one, other than handicap a horse, that didn’t involve peddling legislative influence?
I understood that all parties were cautioned by the judge to not discuss this case outside the courtroom. This pampered chooch goes on the radio and sounds off. Maybe he needs a few weeks in the hoosgow, like Rudy’s ex police commissioner so he can tell it to the inmates.
The benefit of The Doubt is broken and [may be or may be not] Innocent Until Proven Guilty – Let’ the Federal Judge Decide!
