Astorino in DC

November
17

Westchester’s Republican county executive-in-waiting visited the nation’s capital today.

Rob Astorino met withDemocratic Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand as well as Reps. Nita Lowey, D-Harrison; Eliot Engel, D-Bronx; and John Hall, D-Dover.

“We agreed to work together for the good of the county,’‘  said Schumer, who was the first elected official on Astorino’s schedule.

The two met in Schumer’s office located in the Senate Hart Office Building.

Earlier in the day Astorino met with Ron Sims, deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, regarding the county’s housing desegregation agreement.

So far so good. I am a democrat but I am optimistic about Mr. Astorino. His statement to look for a Q after an applicant’s name—for “Qualified”—may be just a slogan, but its a good one.
I think Mr. Astorino can cut numbers of staff but more important cut salaries of non contract positions. Committed public servants will work for less for a chance to turn Westchester around. There are too many 6 figure hacks in Westchester, particularly in Yonkers.
We all owe it to ourselves to stand behind Mr. Astorino and support his efforts to clean up the mess that is County government.

    “Honorable” Engel VOTED FOR:
    IRAQ WAR (& subsequent funding)
    PATRIOT ACT
Commodity Fut. Modernization Act 2000 (helped bring about financial collapse)
Food “Safety” Modernization Act (puts local farmers out of business)
    WALL STREET BAILOUTS
    “STIMULUS” bills
He SUPPORTS? the SECRECY of the FED. RESERVE by refusing to cosponsor HR1207 (Audit the Fed)

He thinks throwing slop ($) at special-interests will shut the constituents up. Fools trust tyrants. Call up, tell him we’re angry, & VOTE HIM OUT.

I am glad to see Astorino going to where the money is and the “power” to try to make some inroads into our money and housing situation,
this is more important than taking a trip to china like some county execs.

Now that he has touched base with those in DC, I hope he has someone to help him look into the phony budget that the outgoing slime has put together to sabotage Astorino.b Even the dems on the county legs today are upset.

And I call “them” slime, because they think they are getting back at Astorino, and forget they are taking it out on the rest of the citizens of Westchester.

BTW, havent heard word one of the other Spano or Burns.
