Bruno Guilty On Two of Eight Counts

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Dec 07, 2009

Former Senate Republican Leader Joseph Bruno was found guilty in federal court this afternoon on two of eight counts in his federal corruption trial.

Bruno, 80, a state legislator since 1976 and Senate majority leader from 1995 through last year, was accused of accepting nearly $3.2 million from groups of individuals and other entities that had or were seeking business with the state.

He was found guilty on two charges that dealt with his relationship with Albany-area businessman Jared Abbruzzese.

Bruno, of Brunswick, Rensselaer County, was found not guilty on five other charges and jurors—who deliberated for seven days—could not come to a decision on an eighth charge.

Bruno’s sentencing is scheduled for March 31.

Bruno told reporters outside the courtroom that he’s “very disappointed” in the verdict.

“The legal process is going to continue, and in my mind and in my heart it is not over until it’s over,” he said. “And I think it’s far from over.”

this establishes a bar …so that other legislatures can’t
abuse their office…i doubt that the judge will put an
80 year old in jail..but for those that are younger ….
    they are on notice

Ironic that they got him on the horse! ‘Fugue for Tinhorns’ from “Guys and Dolls.” This guy says the horse can do, can do, can do. It will have to do – until they put some sharp incisors into the slack jaws of the “ethics” laws up there they created for themselves. And there is still fat chance of that.

Wait till the federal authorities hit Putnam county. Oh how the Lord will shine on us then!
