Sen. Joseph Robach of Monroe County has rejected a committee chairmanship offer from Democrats.
Sen. Thomas Morahan of Rockland County has yet to comment about his offer.
And that leaves Sen. George Maziarz of Niagara County, the third Republican who received an offer from Senate Democrats to head the Senate Energy Committee. He said yesterday evening he’s still “very interested,” but no agreement has been reached.
“I’m still very interested,” Maziarz said. “I’m engaged in some conversations with people that I have a lot of respect for in the Senate, and I would never leave the Republican conference, I will always be a Republican, but this is something that I’m very interested in. I think it’s good for my district.”
Maziarz headed the Energy Committee, which carries a $12,500 stipend, last year before Senate Democrats won the majority of the chamber. The Niagara Power Project is in his district and he’s a vocal critic of the New York Power Authority.
Whether Maziarz or other Republicans will take committee chairmanships remains unclear. And Senate Democrats are saying that no announcement is imminent.

Just proves the old adage. It’s an ill wind that blows no good.
