Women For Gillibrand

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Jan 12, 2010

Women state legislators came together today at the Capitol to support Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in her bid for election this fall, a direct rebuke to former Tennessee Rep. Harold Ford’s expected challenge for the Democratic nomination.

“She’s a new U.S. senator who has already shown that she has extraordinary talent, that she’s committed to the issues New York cares about,” said Sen. Liz Krueger, D-Manhattan.

Some of the legislators met with Gillibrand last night when she made a surprise visit to Albany and to Sen. John Sampson’s fundraiser.

The roughly dozen women legislators sought to refrain from commenting about Ford specifically, but not all did.

“We don’t need an outsider in the Bronx and in the state of New York,” said Assemblywoman Carmen Arroyo, D-Bronx. “He’s an outsider, he’s against women’s rights, and he’s against minorities and we cannot tolerate that he come here to run.”

Sen. Suzi Oppenheimer, D-Mamaroneck, said Gillibrand is showing a command of the issues across the state.

“She’s gained a real understanding, not only of the state, but she’s so supportive of what we used to call ‘the kitchen table’ issues,” Oppenheimer said. “Those are the ones that matter most to people. How do I educate my kids? How do I feed my kids? How do I pay the rent?”

Assemblywoman Susan John, D-Rochester, attended the news conference but didn’t speak during it. Afterward, she said Gillibrand has shown a commitment to upstate; Gillibrand is from the Albany area and a former congresswoman from the region.

“Senate Gillibrand is working very hard on behalf of New York, especially upstate New Yorkers,” John said.

“She’s gained a real understanding… of the State.” Hilarious comment from Oppenheimer when referring to a person representing NY in Washington. One might hope a “real understanding” would occur long, long before one assumes such an important and lofty position.

Is this handful of women and their silly “rally” all the “Albany Bureau” saw today? What about the Assembly Minority Caucus rallying with thousands of sportsmen and the head of the NRA to support gun rights and reform of New York’s dysfunctional and oppressive gun laws? You guys just decided to ignore it?

I guess “Big Brother” Obama should have never challenged Hillary Soprano.

It seems that all these Democr\”RAT”ic women forget this is America and anyone has the right to run for office.

But not if is against “King” Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Schumer’s “Quuen” Gillibrand

BTW When “Big Brother” Obama first ran for office he made sure that the incumbent who happened to be a women and original endorsed him change her mind and waned hin to drop out he did not and had his lawyer throw her off the ballot.

But I guess all these women Democ”RATS” agree with tha

The Three-Cs are at it again: CONSTANTLY COMPLAINING CONSERVATIVES – who ran the Congress and the White House, owned the Governor’s Mansion and the State Senate for most of the last decade? Whatta great job THEY did.

I guess everything was peachy-keen under Bush and DeLay and Frist. I guess Pataki and Bruno had nuttin’ to do w/Albany’s problems.

We need a new Pulitzer Prize for Rewriting History.

Gillibrand is right for New York, Edsel is totally wrong. We don’t Tennessee’s ethically challenged reject.

the new york state legislature is controlled by the democrats…they have insisted on spending for municipal
union pensions and we are now going broke…suzi oppenheimer has been part of the problem not part of the solution…if rob astorino can beat andy spano…which he
did very nicely..then any credible candidate particularly
liz feld can beat suzi this year…and that goes double
for andrea stewart cousins…it is simply unhealthy
to have all branches of state government in the control
of the democrats…the comptroller, the ag, the governor
and both houses….in addition both us senators and most
of the congressional delegation..since when is one party
rule the way to produce the kind of governement that ny
is used to…the tradition was always to have a check
and balance whether it was ned reagan, or bob abrams
when their opposites were in the governors mansion..or
arthur leavitt when rocky was governor…one party domination leads to the kind of predicament that we
    are now in..
