Lazio Lands Mondello’s Endorsement

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Jan 20, 2010

Nassau County GOP chairman Joseph Mondello, whose committee controls the largest weighted vote total among county committees at 9.78 percent, endorsed Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio today.

Mondello’s support brings Lazio’s total to more than 40 percent of the party’s weighted vote and gives him a sweep of his Long Island after his hometown county of Suffolk was the first to back him in October.

Mondello, the former state GOP chairman, said in a statement “I am enthusiastically endorsing Rick Lazio for governor of New York because I believe we need someone who will fight for the overburdened, overtaxed and over-regulated taxpayers of New York. Rick Lazio is that man.”

He added, “If Senator-elect Scott Brown’s message of core Republican values can resonate in the bluest of blue states, there’s no doubt in my mind that New York’s Republican Party can elect a Republican Governor this November.”
