Putnam County GOP For Lazio

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Jan 21, 2010

Another day, another county GOP endorsement for gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio. Today’s it’s Putnam County Republican chairman Anthony Scannapieco.

Lazio has exceeded 40 percent of the weighted vote total needed to win the GOP nomination at the spring convention, picking up Nassau County’s nearly 10 percent weighted vote yesterday.

Putnam’s vote total is less than 1 percent. Scannapieco last summer flipped his support from Ed Cox to Henry Wojtaszek for state GOP chairman, aligning himself with the Rudy Giuliani forces—who are now backing Lazio for governor.

“The current government in Albany has failed us. It taxes too much and spends too much,” Scannapieco said in a release.

“It has racked up mountains of debt that will hurt the future of our children. Some say standing up to Albany will be too difficult. I say that with good people like Rick Lazio standing up for us, we will have a chance to change things for the better. I endorse his candidacy and call for all the good people in Putnam County and beyond to stand up, get excited, and fight for change.”

Lazio said in a statement:  “I am honored and humbled to have the support of my good friend Chairman Scannapieco. He has chosen to stand with me because he knows that we need to get our spending under control, we need to lower taxes, and we need to grow jobs. Albany needs a fundamental overhaul, and I plan on giving it one when I’m elected Governor.  There is something grand happening in this country.  Real change is on the march and I will take it to Albany.”

Great job Tony. Keep up the good work.

The Laziostein monster nabes another County Chairmen, they only problem is that the Convention is not until May, and a lot can happen from now to then.

What you see now as the Lleading Republican” could not be the Winning Republican come the May Convention.

Many twists and turns will come, so Laziostein keep an eye in your rear view mirror.

The Chairman in Putnam County is a fool and does not support the right republicans, he always his hand out and those who fill it get his support.

  4. Breaking News - Putnam County GOP

Putnam County GOP selects new County Chairman. James Dibella (Southeast) defeats Anthony Scannapieco (Carmel) 115 to 99. Stay tuned for more details.

I doubt this is valid, since the GOP Chair is a 4 year term and Scannapieco just ran for re-election last year. So now it’s a 1 year term?
Is this the same James DiBella who blindly supports failed perennial political candidate James “Jim” Borkowski for every position and seat this side of Timbucktoo? And endorsed Borkie knowing Borkie took the Working Families Party endorsement?
Why hasn’t Borkowski announced that he has dropped out of the Assembly race?
Besides, it’ll be Scannapieco who gets the ultimate final revenge against the corrupt town of Southeast and Southeast’s favorite son. Stay tuned…....

Jokster, you say the Putnam GOP Chair is a fool and does not support the right Republicans. Well, let’s see:

    1) 99th AD? Steve Katz-winner

    2) 40th SD? Greg Ball-winner

    3) 19th CD? Nan Hayworth-winner

    4) County Executive? Odell, who lost by the skin of her teeth, and how Leibell is still trying to figure out what went wrong and what is going wrong

Always picks the wrong Republican, huh?
