State GOP Chairman: Cuomo Should Recuse Himself

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Feb 25, 2010

State GOP Chairman Ed Cox has weighed in on the domestic-abuse scandal engulfing the Paterson administration.

And rather than call for Paterson’s resignation—like his son did —he calls for Cuomo to step back from the investigation.

“While Attorney General Cuomo may have the legal authority to conduct the investigation into allegations concerning Governor Paterson, the antagonism and politically charged relationship that exists between the two rivals greatly undermines the Attorney General’s ability to objectively and credibly investigate this matter,” Cox said.

“The people of New York deserve answers free of political influence and interference.  Attorney General Cuomo should recuse himself from this matter and turn responsibility over to the Deputy Attorney General for Public Integrity to ensure a full and fair investigation.”
