Malpass Files For U.S. Senate Run

4

David Malpass, a former aide to Presidents Reagan and George H.W. Bush, filed paperwork today with the Federal Elections Commission as he weighs a run against Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

A spokeswoman said Malpass, of Manhattan, has been meeting with Republican and Conservative leaders as he considers whether to jump into what is becoming a crowded GOP race to get the party’s nomination to run against the Democratic senator.

Malpass, who also assisted Rudy Giuliani on economic policy during his ill-fated presidential run, was a deputy assistant treasury secretary under Reagan and a former deputy secretary of state under Bush.

His campaign put out an email today with his biography and a photo (at right).

Others interested in running against Gillibrand include: former Nassau County legislator Bruce Blakeman, former Westchester Rep. Joseph DioGuardi, Orange County Executive Edward Diana and Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef.

  1. Malpass? This must be a joke. Has anybody in the sad history of economic commentary ever been more wrong than Malpass about virtually everything? From his oft-repeated insistence that there was no housing bubble to his dismissal of the credit crisis, Malpass has shamelessly displayed his grotesque ignorance and lack of intellectual honesty at every critical juncture over the past several years. A dangerous hack — if he had any character at all, he would retreat from the world in shame.

  2. Working for the Reagan administration as a mere deputy assistant secretary is scant qualifications for what the Republican party in NEW YORK STATE desperately needs right now: someone with the cahones to take on Congress’ profligate ways (Dems and Repubs alike) and stop running the country into the ground. D’Amato has a stranglehold on the Republican party, or so he thinks, and is “helping” Republican candidates so that they leave with full campaign coffers when Gillibrand wins.

Smart people will realize we have to take back New York State and take back America.

  3. Can you jackals that have posted here go back to your bath houses with your ballerina dancer Rahm… you do not have a clue about what Malpass has done and could not understand his work even if you had your clothes on.

  4. Whoooo arrrrre you? Who – hoo, who-hoo. I really wanna know…whoooo are you. Whoo-hoo, hoo-hoo. (Theme used in CSI)
