Jacobs: No Rush For Cuomo Announcement
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo last week freed himself up politically from the two investigations his office is conducting into Gov. David Paterson and his administration.
But that doesn’t appear to be moving up Cuomo’s timeline to announce his plans to run for governor.
State Democratic Chairman Jay Jacobs said he’s encouraged Cuomo that there’s no immediate need to get into the race and, as Cuomo himself has said, to let the budget process play out before politics takes over.
Jacobs estimated there wouldn’t be announcement from Cuomo until mid-to-late April.
“What I have advised is that there’s no need to make the formal announcement yet. Let governing take place; there’s a budget to get through that’s very important,” Jacob said.
Jacobs added that, “Albany gets accused at times of doing its budget with three men in a room, and I’ve heard it said, ‘Who needs four?’”
Cuomo backed out of investigating Paterson last week and turned the investigations over to former Chief Judge Judith Kaye as Cuomo’s poll number plunged, presumably because he’s involved in investigating the embattled governor.
Some officials have estimated that a Cuomo announcement would certainly come before the Democratic Rural Conference, which is slated April 30 and May 1 in Niagara Falls.
The group’s chairwoman Irene Stein, who heads the Tompkins County Democratic Committee, said the group will hold a straw poll, as it does every four years, for its endorsements for statewide races at the event.

However, there is a need for David Paterson to RESIGN NOW.
Since the state is broke, and tough decisions will be necessary to save it from collapse, David Paterson must take his own advice and put the people above himself by stepping down and giving Lt. Gov. Richard Ravitch an opportunity to get something done.
New Yorkers should not have to tolerate the aimless maneuverings of a HAPLESS governor with no gubernatorial accomplishments who has ABUSED his power, and who is facing several CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS.
David Paterson has never governed effectively. “The Democratic Conference: Organizational and Operational Structure Report” is an eyewitness account of Paterson’s DYSFUNCTIONAL governing nature while Senate Minority Leader.

Paterson’s office was criticized for PATRONAGE, LACK OF LEADERSHIP, INDECISIVENESS and INFIGHTING. Those interviewed in the report indicated that its chief of staff the disorganized Michael Jones-Bey had no management skills, would hang out with staff, often coming in the office with a hangover, and should be fired.
Amazingly, the disorganized Michael Jones-Bey was hand picked by David Paterson to head Minority & Women Owned Business Development at Empire State Development Corporation.
That’s the Paterson Way – being rewarded for your incompetence.
