McFadden: Either I Win GOP Nod, Or I’m Out
Former Tuxedo Mayor David McFadden is also raising for a GOP run against Rep. John Hall, and sent a letter to party leaders that he’ll drop out of the race if he doesn’t win the party’s nomination.
He’s expected to file with about $100,000 in the bank, a spokesman said. McFadden, Kristia Cavere and other candidates for the Republican nomination are meeting with Putnam County Republicans tonight.
McFadden didn’t register as a Republican until the deadline passed, so he would need the party’s majority support to run on its line anyway.
But McFadden said he wouldn’t run on any third-party line if he doesn’t win the Republican Party’s backing at its convention in May.
“I am a Republican first and a candidate for office second,” McFadden said. “And while I am confident that my experience, dedication, and conservative principles make me the best candidate to do just that, it is also critical that all Republican candidates for this seat join me in putting our joint goal of returning this seat to Republicans over their own political strategies or individual aims.”
Here’s his letter.

McFadden is being disingenuous. Because he is still unaffiliated with any political party he cannot primary should he not win the Republican nomination and get an authorization from the state GOP chairman.
hall cannot be beaten unless a very talented and knowledgeable opponent runs against him..and it is
not mr mcfadden.
