Democrats Holding Convention In Westchester

Posted by: Joseph Spector - Posted in Uncategorized on Apr 08, 2010

Instead of New York City, state Democrats are holding their convention in late May at the Hilton Rye Town Hotel, in Rye Brook, Westchester County.

“I’m proud to announce today that we have decided to move next month’s convention to Westchester,” state Chairman Jay Jacobs said in a statement.

“Democrats believe that Westchester and our suburban counties are a key part of what makes New York great and are committed to using the convention to showcase our commitment to them.”

The move comes as Democrats have lost ground in the suburbs, particularly in Westchester where they lost the county executive’s seat last November and an Assembly seat in a special election earlier this year.

Westchester County also has several Democratic hopefuls for statewide office this year, including Assemblyman Richard Brodsky and Sean Coffey running for attorney general.

The convention is slated for May 25-27.

Republicans are slated to hold their convention the following week in Manhattan.

they must be extremely worried that suburban counties
have had it with the leadership provided by an all
    democratic state lineup…patterson is useles…spitzer
resigned in disgrace..and cuomo has to understand that
although he has the lead in the polls now…it is a
function solely of name identification….if the republicans
nominate a strong candidate who can articulate the issues
that are of concern to all new york voters…he might be
    very surprised come november..

As a life-long Democrat I am disgusted. While I could not find in my heart or mind to become a Republican, I am afraid I can no longer be a part of this party. Just the local shenanigans – specifically Adam Bradley, his un-opposed run for Mayor of White Plains, the current scandal and the Democratic Common Council’s lack of response to his behavior and arrests. The governor’s scandal etc etc It’s disgusting. I’m done. I’m resigning my party affiliation – I will be an Independent.
