Roll Call

The roll call for the Democratic nomination for attorney general is just getting underway, and state chairman Jay Jacobs said the process could take an hour or so. They didn’t sit well with the delegates, who groaned.

It’s not turning out to be very suspenseful among the five candidates for attorney general, however.

The state party has agreed to do hold two votes to allow as many candidates as possible to get to the 25 percent threshold to get on the September primary ballot.

So after the first crop of candidates get the 25 percent, they’ll hold another vote so another group can hit the 25 percent.

That will likely lead to all five candidates—Nassau County Executive Kathleen Rice, Sen. Eric Schneiderman, Assemblyman Richard Brodsky, Westchester County lawyer Sean Coffey and former state Insurance Superintendent Eric Dinallo—to get on the primary ballot without needing petition signatures.
