Ball gets Dutchess GOP endorsement

Posted by: Mike Risinit - Posted in Uncategorized on May 27, 2010

State Assemblyman Greg Ball, R-Patterson, this afternoon announced that he received the endorsement of the Dutchess County Republicans in his bid for state Senate. This comes after Somers Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy was endorsed last week by the Westchester and Putnam GOP committees.

The district covers all of Putnam County, parts of Dutchess County and Peekskill, Cortlandt, Yorktown, Somers, North Salem, Lewisboro, Pound Ridge and Bedford in Westchester County.

“In 2006 I won the election without committee support and did so again, even as an incumbent, in 2008. It is my intent to focus on the issues, focus on the people and win a big upset in September with only grassroots support,” Ball said in a statement.

Murphy and Ball will face off in a GOP primary in September in their goal to replace state Sen. Vincent Leibell, R-Patterson, who is running for Putnam County executive.

Earlier today, Murphy received the promised backing of the Conservative Party.

greg has a problem…if he does not get the conservative
line he cannot win..if he stays in the race he will
be responsible for a democratic win in a republican
    district

I thought Ball said the fact that he was not endorsed by the Republican Party was a badge of honor. Is he happy with this endorsement?

  3. Fat Tub of Lard

Fat Rob is fat. And unimportant. And aloser who can’t get out of bed before 1 pm.

  4. GOP

Greg changes his opinion about support at the drop of a hat. From what I understand he only won the dutchess endorsement by a few votes…kind of embarassing having grown up there. Greg says he will run on the issues but from what I have read so far he has already gone to the gutter. good riddance.

Ball beats Murphy 3-1 in Dutchess, 2-1 in Putnam. Dutchess and Putnam outvote Westchester
2-1. Cortandt and Yorktown, where Ball wins 2-1, are individually each bigger then Somers, Bedford, Pound Ridge, Lewisboro, North Salem and Mount Kisco combined.

End result, Ball 70, Murpjy 30.

They’re short judge candidates, you can bet that late September judicial convention Ball’s pal Colety arranged will have a cozy judeship for Murphy thus assuring Ball the Conservative line.

This was all pre-ordained by insiders…

Ball announces he won Dutchess? And why should we believe Ball? Perhaps if the Dutchess Chair announced it there would be some credence to this article.

Anything Ball says is 95% lie.

  7. Duh

Numbers game – nice try, but last I checked you had to be an attorney to be given the nomination for a judgeship. And last I checked, Mary Beth Murphy is NOT an attorney. Therefore…..nice try. It will be a three way race if Greg wins the primary, thus handing the seat to Kaplowitz.

  8. Meaningless

No, what’s embarassing is when John Degnan got slapped silly by Ball less than 2 years ago, with ZERO committee support.

  9. Duh, duh

Mary Beth Murphy was born in New York City and raised in Yonkers. A Somers resident since 1989, she has lived all her life in Westchester County.

Mary Beth attended Syracuse University, B.S., Geology, and Fordham University School of Law., J.D., cum laude. Prior to becoming Supervisor, Mary Beth practiced law in Mt. Kisco and New York City.

Mary Beth is married to Ken, a partner in the White Plains firm of Murphy, McPartland and Walsh. They have three (3) children, Lee Anne, Brendan, and Ian.

the truth is that the republicans in albany would rather
have kaplowitz than ball believe it or not..they may
know something we don’t..at any rate you can take it
to the bank that if ball does win a republican primary
his election will not be faciliated by a judgship for
murphy..he will run as an uncovered republican ..he will
not have the Independence line nor the conservative line
Kaplowitz will win in a three way race

What were the Republican’s in Dutchess County thinking of to back Ball????

I thought”The Consultant” was the guy who was always running around saying the Conservative Party should not be dictating who the GOP puts up as a candidate. I guess in this case its OK though, since the Westchester Conservatives are controlled by relatives of ersatz Republican former Senator Nick Spano. Better to have either a real Republican (Ball) or a real Democrat (Kaplowitz) representing us than another Rockefeller RINO.

  13. Doug

The Ball will be bounced out of politics this year.

  14. Fat Tub of Lard

By the time the FBI is done blowing up Putnam County, Greg Ball& Mary Ellen Odell will be the only 2 candidates standing.

  15. Fat Tub of Lard

Any guy who can get 80% of the vote, all while $500,000.00 is thrown against him, is not getting bounced anywhere except to victory in any election he wants. Degnan was a Southeast loser I admit, but stil…..they threw half a million dollars at Ball and Ball brushed them away like a pesky fly.

  16. FATTUB TWO

This will be an interesting race for Ball. He has no history of doing anything in the assembly except for criticism and Murphy has been the leader of a Westchester town for many years. She will be hard to beat.

  17. Deja Vu

yeah, sure. Just like John Degnan was going to be tough to beat. I suggest you pick up a copy of today’s Courier. It talks about all the subpoenas all the good old boys were denying the existence of, and it talks about the federal grand jury that the good old boys claimed was a figment of the imagination. This is REAL, folks. Anyone riding the kingmaker’s coat-tails in hopes of victory, you better get ready for the bad news…....
