Blakeman says will be senator for change, Malpass promises solutions

Bruce Blakeman just gave his acceptance speech after receiving more than 50 percent of Republican delegates’ votes to run for U.S. Senate. David Malpass, an economist, also won enough votes to be on the GOP primary ballot to challenge U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand this fall.

“People want change,  not the kind of change that was promised to us in the last election,” he said. Instead, change that includes affordability and accountability and rewards hard work, ingenuity and risk-taking and doesn’t punish businesses and successful people, he added.

“New Yorkers have not lost faith in America. They’ve lost faith in their leaders,” he said, promising to go down to Washington and fight for the people.

Blakeman said when the government takes more money out of people’s pockets, there is less money to invest in good services, equipment, technology, hiring people and giving them jobs.

David Malpass said he looks forward to figthing for our goals and our principles across the state. “This is going to be a tough race, but we’re going to win,” he said.

“People across the state know that things are not working and he is the candidate who will bring solutions,” he said.

Malpass said he would not be silent “as Senator Gillibrand has been” on issues of national security.

Joe DioGuardi, a former U.S. representative from Westchester County, did not secure enough votes to get on the ballot.

I wouldn’t count DioGuardi out yet. Even though he lost the Republican nod, as he points out, thats the insiders placing their votes. DioGuardi is appealing to the people, and in this current political climate, thats probably the move to make. Voters are sick of big Washington politics, and DioGuardi is the one who bucks that trend.

@Malik is right on point. Joe DioGuardi connects with voters to better understand the people he represents, enabling him to take a stance on the issues important to them. He also strongly supports truth in government, especially when it comes to Congressional accounting, budgeting and reporting, which have become hot button topics in recent years. Blakeman shouldn’t be using the terms “accountability” and “hard work” when he obviously doesn’t understand their meanings. He only acts as a puppet for Al D’Amato and his past unethical actions are coming back to haunt him.

DioGuardi stands strong with the Conservative Party nomination and with his commitment and determination, I definitely wouldn’t count him out in this Senate race.
