Carl Paladino, the Buffalo real estate developer and GOP candidate for governor, may not have a ballot line for November yet, but he’s got a name for now.
The nascent line would be called “Taxed Enough Already.” The name was the winner of an online poll posted on Paladino’s website.
The name is an allusion to the tea-party movement, which had some groups initially calling themselves the TEA Party, with the letters an acronym for “taxed enough already.”
In a statement posted on facebook, Paladino campaign manager Michael Caputo said the name garnered 34 percent of the vote. But the campaign may not ultimately use it because of its tea-party affiliation.
A few supportive grassroots organizers have expressed concern about such a direct reference to their movement, and Carl is eager to discuss it further,” Caputo said.
Paladino, who spoke to The Journal News’s editorial board earlier today, is challenging the Republican Party’s preferred candidate, former Rep. Rick Lazio, for the GOP line in a September primary. He is also seeking an independent line through a petitioning process.
