Bruno’s campaign bank account runs dry

Posted by: Nick Reisman - Posted in Joseph Bruno on Jul 14, 2010

Bill Mahoney of the New York Public Interest Research Group, who has been tracking financial disclosure statements filed by politicians and political hopefuls this week, reports that former Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno’s once robust campaign account is now empty.

Bruno, who once had $8.2 million set aside for his campaigns, was found guilty earlier this year on federal fraud charges. Sentencing has been delayed as prosecutors and Bruno’s defense team weigh the outcome of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that could dismantle the crime of “theft of honest services” that the Rensselaer County Republican was found guilty of violating.

Mahoney reports that Bruno’s committee has spent at least $1.29 million in legal fees since he resigned from the Senate in 2008.

  1. Disclosure?

    Where’s the other $7 million?

  2. Eddie

What did he do with the rest of it? More than likely he put it in his pocket. The man cheated those who trusted him, and nothing is going to happen. It hardly ever does to politicians. They almost get away with murder.
