Borkowski touts state Conservative Party backing in run for 99th

Posted by: Brian Howard - Posted in Government & Politics, Mohegan Lake, Yorktown on Jul 20, 2010

Republican Jim Borkowski of Southeast is boasting the backing of the state Conservative Party in his run for the Assembly’s 99th District seat.

A press release from the Borkowski campaign today says the endorsement follows the endorsements of the county Conservative parties in Putnam, Westchester and Dutchess.

“Jim Borkowski is the kind of new blood and new Conservative leadership New York State needs,” state Conservative Party Chairman Michael Long is quoted saying. “Jim’s track record as a prosecutor and criminal court judge exemplifies what the Conservative Party represents. Judge Borkowski has the integrity to fight for fundamental change in Albany, and stand for Conservative principles. I support him enthusiastically.”

Borkowski, the GOP nominee, is being challenged by Tea Party candidate Stephen Katz of Mohegan Lake. Katz has secured enough signatures to force a Republican primary, the winner of which will face off against Democrat Brendan Tully of Yorktown.

“New York City Liberal Democrats have had their turn to run Albany, and we have seen the terrible results: runaway spending and crushing taxes,” Borkowski said in the release. “We need fiscal conservatism to save New York State from economic collapse.”

  1. Tea Party for Katz

Michael Long is in for BIG, BIG surprise.

  2. Where's VINNY?

Has anyone seen VINCENT LEIBELL III? Pretty soon we’re going to have to file a missing person report on him!

  3. Mike D

Excuse me but isn’t this the same man who was the Working Families Party Candidate for Sheriff? Some Conservative. I smell maybe the influence of Vinny Libell and Nick Spano here. Let’s not forget Andy Spano was the Conservative Party candidate over Rob Astorino. Talk about a party with true to values integrity. Gimme a break! All of a sudden Jim is starting to emulate a “real conservative” like Greg Ball who is the arch enemy of the Albany political power brokers. What next pictures of Jim with a dog and a pickup truck chasing Mexicans out of Brewster?

Give me a break Judge Jim is pure and simply a political opportunist looking for a job for himself and his portly sidekick Robby D.

    Don’t be fooled …Vote Katz!

  4. Democrat to Republican

Steve Katz is one of the founding members of the White Plains Tea Party. This was long before any of this election nonsense.

Borkowski? Borkowski didn’t even become a Republican till he moved to Putnam County. He was a born and bred true blood Democrat just like his campaign manager. Speaking of whom, just wait on these two. Their plans are about to change I hear.

  5. Fact Check

Andy Spano was handed the Conservative Party nod by the local Westchester County crew, influenced by fmr. State Sen. Nick Spano.

You’ll note that in the Astorino/Spano race Mike Long came down to Westchester to publicly refudiate the local Conservative Party and he personally endorsed Rob Astorino.

Long’s conservative bona-fides are without question. He went with Hoffman over Scozzafava in NY-23 and, as a result, was the impetus for that Tea Party backed revolt.

Long would not support Borkowski if he were some wishy-washy liberal Democrat in Republican clothing. The attempt to paint him as such is so foolish. Especially since Borkowski was the first elected official in Putnam County (yes, even before Greg Ball) to call for local law enforcement to take part in the 287(g) program to help crack-down on criminal illegal aliens.

That was 2007. Where was Steve Katz then?

  6. Democrat to Republican

Steve Katz was building a business from the ground up. James Borkowski, on the other hand, was either running for Putnam County District Attorney or Putnam County Judge, we can’t remember he’s run for so many (slandering both opponents in the process). We note Borkowski was running for these two political posts all while being a town court judge. Political activity was one of the reasons cited as to why Borkowski was told to either step down as judge or he would be removed. Unless Borkowski signs a release authorizing the publication of conditions of the complaints filed against him, only Borkowski knows what the true outcome of those complaints are. One thing we do know for a fact, fact checker: the complaints were not dismissed.

Illegal immigration is on the Putnam front burner and that’s because of one man: Greg Ball. Not Jim Borkowski, fact checker. Are you looking at calendars now? “Gee, I had called for this on April 3rd and Greg said it May 19th!! See!!?? There’s proof!! Facts!! Facts!! Facts!!” Greg Ball brought ALL of this to the Putnam consciousness in 2005 and changed the strategy of every person running for office in Putnam County.

Steve Katz is a founding member of the White Plains Tea Party movement. Jim Borkowski is endorsed by the WORKING FAMILIES PARTY. These are FACTS.

Vinny Leibell delivered the GOP endorsement for Borkowski. Deny it all you want, scream all you want, when you look in the mirror you know it’s true.

Vinny Leibell delivered the Conservative Party endorsement for Borkowski. Deny it all you want, scream all you want, when you look at yourself in the mirror you know it’s true.

Jim Borkowski we learn is a lifelong DEMOCRAT. He became a wishy-washy Republican when he moved to Putnam.

if those numbers are true, which they probably are because the sampling breaks down perfectly, borkowski, murphy & co. are heading into a major embarrassment in a month from now…the question is, who leaked this…and why…

  9. Weak Committee

Those numbers are true. I’ve heard them from guys who’ve been in the game a long time. Ball has been out-working Murphy and Tax hike Mike through and through. This is Ball’s trademark. And as far as Borkowski, when a Committee person from Dutchess came by to get signatures in my neighborhood, she had full sheets for all her candidates, and a completely empty sheet for Borkowski, I asked her why? She said people were refusing to sign for Borkowski. Then I heard that Steve Katz submitted more signatures than Borkowski, and Borkowski had the stinking committee behind him getting signatures for him! What does that tell you?
You’re right though….as I look at this poll, it breaks down perfectly.
