GOP gubernatorial candidate Rick Lazio spent $363,556 on his campaign in the last few weeks and has $502,369 on hand going into the primary next week, according to records he filed with the state Board of Elections.
Lazio, a former U.S. representative from Suffolk County, spent a total of $102,805 on consulting services. Major expenses for professional services include $167,950 to Multi Media Services Corp. of Alexandria, VA, and $20,300 to Manhattan Management Group. Lazio received a $10,000 from the Friends of Bob Gaffney political action committee. Gaffney is a former Suffolk County executive.
Lazio faces Republican Carl Paladino, a Buffalo businessman, in next Tuesday’s primary. Paladino spent $484,379 in the most recent reporting period and had a negative balance of $567.50. He loaned himself $220,000 in August, bringing the total amount of loans he made to himself to $300,000. Paladino has pledged to spend up to $10 million of his own money in his campaign for governor.
Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, is also running for governor. He doesn’t have a primary.
