Tully touts Labor Day labor endorsements in 99th AD

Posted by: Brian Howard - Posted in 99th Assembly District, Government & Politics, Yorktown on Sep 08, 2010

Brendan Tully, the Democrat running for state Assembly in the 99th District, chose Labor Day to announce key labor endorsements he received.

The New York State AFL-CIO and the New York State United Teachers are both backing Tully’s candidacy, he announced.

“I am honored to have the support of the (New York State) AFL-CIO and NYSUT,” Tully said. “Working men & women built this state and are the backbone of our communities. I’m proud to stand with them as we try to build a better state government that produces results and not just empty promises.”

The state AFL CIO has 2.5 million members while NYSUT represents more than 600,000 members.

Tully, an attorney from Yorktown, will be opposed by the winner of Tuesday’s Republican primary. Former Southeast Town Justice Jim Borkowski is the GOP nominee. Borkowski is opposed by Tea Party challenger Steve Katz of Yorktown.

The 99th Assembly district covers Yorktown, Somers and North Salem in Westchester County; Carmel, Southeast and Patterson in Putnam County; and Pawling in Dutchess County.

Well, what do you know? Two Democrats with their hands in their OWN pockets!

  2. the consultant

thats really great …tully is being supported by the
very people that are causing the state to go belly up
    because of their inflated pensions…nice!

  3. consult this

Hey consultant, did you know that the money that gets withheld from teachers salaries is deferred compensation. I would gladly take a salary of $125,000, which is what people of similar education levels would make and receive no pension. When I got my masters degree 4 years ago my salary barely broke $50,000. Do you know that NYC sanitation workers make more than a teacher after 5 years?

  4. Degree Proliferation

Master’s Degree and no knowledge of possessives, half knowledge of interrogatory punctuation, and a member of a glomming union complaining about another union that has learned to better glom. The full package.
