Kaplowitz issues debate challenge to Ball

Posted by: Mike Risinit - Posted in 40th state Senate, Greg Ball, Michael Kaplowitz on Sep 17, 2010

Westchester County Legislator Mike Kaplowitz, a Democrat running for the 40th state Senate District, today challenged his Republican opponent, state Assemblyman Greg Ball, to seven forums and debates throughout the Senate district.

Kaplowitz said he sent a letter to Ball. He also posted a video online with the same message. Any response from Ball’s campaign will be posted here when I receive it.

From the letter:

I know your time is valuable, so I’ll get straight to the point: Voters want and deserve an open and honest discussion of the issues. I have already committed to seven forums and debates throughout the district – from Mahopac to Katonah to Carmel to Somers. The first forum will be September 28th and sponsored by the League of Women Voters. It will be the first in a series of opportunities for us to discuss issues that are important to voters in our district—especially those of particular significance to women.

Here is the full list:

September 28th  -  League of Women Voters
September 30th  – West City Association
October 3rd           – Temple Beth Shalom
October 5th        – League of Women Voters
October 6th          -  Yorktown Stage Debate
October 14th     -  League of Women Votes
October 25th     -  Somers Candidates Night

Seeing as your schedule must fill up quickly, I challenge you to publicly accept the invitations to these debate and forums today.  I don’t where you have been or where you plan on going. But I will be there, ready to debate.

Enough of the scheduling conflicts. Enough of the excuses.

It’s time to get real. It’s time to show up.

Mike Kaplowitz is taking it to Greg Ball, Ball is used to being the bully and now he must face a man who will stand up to him. Kaplowitz is setting the standard for this race, Kaplowitz is saying let’s take the race to the public and discuss the issues at 7 debates. You would think Ball would like this, but I am sure he will not. Ball likes to dictate and intimidate, Kaplowitz will not be intimidated and is ready to fight for the right to represent the people of the 40th Senate District. I am happy that Ball has finally met a person who will stand toe to toe with him and challenge him on his lack of accomplishments. How great is this, Ball the bully being pushed around by Kaplowitz.
It will be interesting to see how Ball the bully handles being on the receiving end,

You can all bully your little asses off into eternity – cut all this taxing and spending!

Kaplowitz comes out swinging early throwing a few jabs and a right cross, Ball is staggered and trying to figure out how to respond. Kaplowitz’s handlers are telling him to keep the pressure on they believe Ball has a weak stomach so they tell Kaplowitz to throw a few more blows to the body. Ball looks over to his handlers and they say throw some wild punches or say a lie that usually works (like I am going to clean up Brewster or I am going to lower your taxes). Meanwhile Kaplowitz is jabbing and circling Ball looking for his next shot, Ball is stunned, he has never been hit like this before, his ex is now wondering what will I do if Ball does not survive. At the end of the round Kaplowitz looks over to Ball and his corner in a Ali type fashion and points and says, ‘Your all going down, your going down”. Ball says to his corner, we have a problem, Kaplowitz hears Balls comments and says get ready because I’m coming out with the “Rope a dope”.

I’ll be back for round two.

  4. Wolf Ticket Disinfectant

Kaplowitz, a lifetime taxer and spender, suddenly and oddly talks of fiscal integrity. Anyone believe him? Unlikely.

So lets guess, Ball will call Mike a tax and spend type of guy and Kaplowitz will tell all that Ball is an all talk no action type of guy. I predict Ball will not prove Mike is a tax and spend and Mike will prove that Ball is a do nothing Assemblyman.

“especially those of particular significance to women…” Kaplowitz says. Anyone still have any doubts about what he really means and where he is truly coming from, not to mention the smug patronization of women?

Here is one fact, we may have fun on the blogs commenting and back and forth, but none of this matters. No campaign is ever won on the blogs, you have Ball’s people who will monitor the blogs and try to deflect the issues and the otherside will respond. In the end, blogs are self serving and have no impact, why do I waste my time?

This tough act on Kaplowitz’s part is so phony. There’s already a debate scheduled on October 6th at Yorktown Stage, at 6pm airing on RNN-TV.

As a constituent who reached out to him for assistance, I learned first hand that Mike Kaplowitz is an outright liar. While he represents himself as a fiscally conservative, independent voice, there is no truth there.

He has been an absolutely disgraceful county legislator, voting again and again for higher taxes and more and more spending, leaving county residents with the highest property taxes in the county, a sizeable deficit, and for those of us in Chappaqua and Somers—in his own very own district—the burdens of the housing settlement that he voted for.

  9. Popularity Contest

Actually, Kaplowitz (Mary Beth Murphy’s) people waste all of their time on blogs, because they don’t know how to campaign. Then they sit around and blame a “dumb electorate,” to quote one of them on the North County News (the same “dumb electorate” that voted for Nan Hayworth by the exact same margin) for their loss instead of their own laziness and ineffectual campaigning. You are unaccomplished neophytes, learn how to run for school board and then you can come dance with the adults.

  10. where are they

Where has Matt Neuringer from Greg Ball’s camp disappeared to? Where is the so called Campaign Chairman for Greg Ball Jim Coleman? Why has Greg Ball’s Lauren J Pistone Ball’s ex-girlfriend who left him and infiltrated the other side and then came back to Greg Ball and claimed they tried to use me? Now Lauren claims she is a political consultant! What a joke she is, she is a girl who happens to look decent and a few of the boys enjoy her company and she calls herself a consultant.

  11. Hanging on

Lauren Pistone is an opportunist, she fishes around for the best deal. Right now she thinks Greg is her ticket, she will get tired and worn out and she will become insignificant sooner then later. Jim Coleman is a smart man, he saw the writing on the wall and understood that it is a matter of time before Ball implodes. Matt Neuringer is a flunky and will hang around and pray something falls in his lap, he is a loser and there is no hope for him, the voters in Southeast sent him a clear message that he is not wanted in these parts. It is interesting how Ball always finds new flunkies to replace those who smartened up and moved on. Ball’s camp should be known as “Flunkieville”
    sounds like a facebook game.

  12. Greg Ball backer

All these mindless ramblings doesn’t stop Greg Ball from winning every race by landlside margins.

Political wanna-bees are going to have to accept the fact that Greg Ball is very well liked by a ton of people, and the average folk want him in office. I can point to election results, and you can only point in the mirror.

  13. Joe

Does Putnam County Chairman Anthony Scannipieco now come out and support the entire Republican Team to include, Nan Hayworth, Vinnie Leibell, Greg Ball, Steve Katz and Anthony DiCarlo. Now Anthony’s leadership will be tested, is he truely a republican leader or is he for his own friens?

  14. Blind support

Joe, the reason why Anthony didn’t come out and automatically support the endorsed candidates after the convention was because of the corrupt way the whole thing was handled. He’s the Chairman and has the authority to collect his proxies to ensure a quorum. When Leibell’s people went around collecting dozens and dozens of proxies beore the convention, calling in favors he gave out through his taxpayer-funded non-profits, he didn’t do so to ensure a quorum. Leibell did this to get his own people in, particularly Jim Borkowski and mary Beth and Anthony DiCarlo. There was an attempted hijacking of the process, and thank good ness the people saw right through it. Just because Borkowski and Murphy got the most proxies, people are supposed to automatically jump in their corner? Anthony Scannapieco has very legitimate reasons for not supporting Borkowski, and I think the reasons will soon be public.

  15. GOP

Greg has shown himself to be a extreme right wing republican. Belief is that Kaplowitz will get the Working Family, Democrats, Independence and moderate republicans (who would vote on the Independence line), could be enough to win in the general.

Will be interesting to see the lies Greg comes up with for Kaplowitz…

  16. I think

the people saw right through Scannapeco considering he lost the primary and unless he pulls some BS tomorrow night, he’s not even a committee member let alone county chair.
