Jim Russell on housing desegregation

Posted by: Leah Rae - Posted in Uncategorized on Sep 21, 2010

Jim Russell has written against racial integration before in letters to the editor, though without the same detailed discussion of a “biological basis” as in the Occidental Quarterly. Here is a 1996 letter that ran in The Journal News (then known as Gannett Suburban Newspapers), responding to an article about the Yonkers desegregation case:

The original argument for school integration was that it would advance the academic achievements of minorities. Instead, an Oct. 1 article on the Yonkers desegregation fiasco concedes that after years of forced integration “ minority students fared worse against national norms in 1995 than in 1988. ‘’ Why, then, do some persist in their advocacy of integration? Don’t they realize that, if given a choice, most parents of all races would rather have integration funds spent on improving the quality of their neighborhood schools? Yet, this paper’s Oct. 3 editorial urges an integrationist crusade “ throughout Westchester and Putnam. ‘’

Given these discrepancies, a complete re-evaluation of racial integration is needed. First of all, we must acknowledge that neither court orders nor millions of taxpayers’ dollars can alter what nature has pre-ordained -namely, that it is normal and healthy for people to prefer the company of their own kind in their neighborhoods and schools. Indeed, a fundamental function of racial characteristics is to provide a source of group cohesion which protects each race as it evolves into a full-fledged species of its own. This is how true diversity is maintained and advanced. To deliberately disrupt this natural process may have disastrous consequences.

Instead of opposing normal, natural human inclinations, we should work to see that the laws of our nation are brought into harmony with the laws of nature in a manner that is as fair as possible to all.

JIM RUSSELL Hawthorne

This past June he wrote to The Journal News to criticize the fair housing settlement in Westchester. He attacked “the irrational assertion that so-called ‘de facto segregation,’ which is often the result of natural housing patterns, constitutes proof of discrimination.”

  1. the consultant

this guy could wear a white sheet and hail from mississippi
this is nonsense that only a person with very limited
exposure to the world could possibly believe..wonder
what he thinks about inter religious marriages or is
it only race where he feels there should be no mixing…
    he’s a whack job…

  2. just say no to an idiot

    Russell=Racist.

Where is Ken Jenkins when you need him.

  3. Eric Cooper

But Princeton locks up Michelle Obama’s thesis where she discusses her views of “white privilege”. Right… “It’s not racist when we do it.”

  4. The Old Professor

African American Studies and Sociology, and measly 3.2 index at that. A cum laude from Princeton is one step above being thrown out.

  5. the consultant

stop attempting to justify these racist opinions…
russell is a throwback to the Ku Klux Klan..you
don’t get it….he is stuck in the past…he is
a failure in business and personally…and he wants
to blame others particularly african americans for
    his failings…get it…he’s nuts

  6. Melanie

The consultant, a person would have to have limited exposure to the world outside of tv to truly believe the races are equal. The truth is blacks are primitive savages. In every first world country they live in, they are bottom of the barrel and their own countries are backwards with violence and disease being the norm. It is not pretty. It is not PC. It is truth.

  7. Sarah

The Old Professor – Michelle Obama was the salutatorian of her high school, and graduated cum laude from Princeton. She also has a J.D. from Harvard Law. I don’t see how that can be considered failure in ANY sense. You have no ground here. She’s done more for this country in the time she’s been active in community work and politics than you’ve probably done your entire life.

Melanie – Citation needed. Otherwise, you just look like an idiot and a racist.

There is no such thing as different races. We’re all the race of human – our skin color was/is defined by the climates we evolved in. Duh, why do you think those of Scandinavian heritage are so pale? Think about it, if you can!

The continent of Africa thrived before colonization by whites. The Africa you see today is a direct result of the destruction brought by colonization. As for blacks being at the “bottom?” President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama may have some words for you there. And last time I checked, violence and disease existed in every country. Look at the US – how many whites are poor, undereducated, and morbidly obese? Yeah, but blacks are the problem! Unlike blacks, whites didn’t suffer under years of slavery, forced segregation, and miss opportunities for work and education.

Before you claim to have “truth” about anything, you better have the facts to back up what you say. Funny, you don’t.

  8. jeffrey

    melanie…get a life…what is it you fear…are you like
the bigots who when Obama was elected said the didnt
want a black man over me….our nation was founded on
equality ..unfortunately we had a little problem called
slavery which strippped blacks of the dignity and freedom
that everyone else had..now we are reaping what we sewed
if you don’t get that you don’t deserve to be a part of
    the discourse

Actually, Jim Russell’s belief that people of color are not of the same species is referenced in that letter to the editor. He appears to have been a full-fledged white supremacist and anti-Semite for a long time.

Seeing three defenders of blatant racism in this thread about Russell makes me wonder if there is an organized white supremacist group in the Westchester area.

And, for the record, “white privilege” is empirically provable. Discussing it is not evidence of racism.

  10. the consultant

there are people who harbor these feelings and resent
people of color particularly those who prove time
and again that race is not a barrier to being successful
far more successful than their white critics could ever
be in every way…unfortunately some of these malcontents
think the republican party has the welcome mat out for them
but they are dead wrong…their views are anathema to the
very basis upon which the republican party was formed and
still stands…those who think they will be sheilded by
republicans misread the current discussion badly..and as
the republican leader has put it instantly by the way
the plug is pulled on mr russell and his ilk..no ifs
and or butts ..take your psuedo science elsewhere

  11. Limited

If someone has a differing vue, call them a racist.
When you don’t have a logical response, resort to name calling.
That is right out of The Moron’s Manifesto.
The only sad thing about getting older, is that you realize after all the so called progress, we are still in the caveman era. i.e.violence, piercing, tattoos, graffiti, and name calling.
Let’s all sit down infront of the Electric Witchdoctor for 5 more hours of the Mumbo Jumbo Tonight Show.

  12. Tired

Live like a true equal, and take your hand out of my pocket.

  13. jeffrey

frankly tired..i believe you have your hand in my pocket
you who look down on those who receive government assistance
don’t get it…if you are a public union employee you
are working and my taxes are subsidizign your retirment
and in many cases your pensions exceed your base salary..
if you are middle class, the president wants to give you
tax breaks and take them away from me..if you are upper
middle class you get to deduct your larger than large
mortgage from your income taxes which i am paying for
since i pay more much more in taxes than you do..so
anyway you slice it your are taking money from me…
so get your hand out of my pocket..and stop being envious
of those far less fortunate than you..oh and by the
way give up your medicare and social security benefits
i am paying for those as well

  14. The Common Man

Jeffrey lives within the world of dreams. As the Quinnipiac poll today showed, Paladino is closing in on Cuomo. A whole lot of fair minded people who are for equality and justice are fed up with your over the top liberalism. You and your ilk, with all your whining, mandates, artificial never ending social engineering, and pseudo intellectualism, have alienated the great middle who have not abandoned common sense. Further, you crucify Medicare and Social Security which EVERY citizen worked a lifetime for and PAID for, and you call them loafers and leeches. The pendulum has swung too far to the extreme left to the point where you criticize your own programs if anyone of middling means enjoys them, and has become taut to the point of the inevitable – coming back toward central.

  15. Yo Mama

Well, I guess Jeffrey has just confirmed what we have always suspected….that the “mooching class” feels justified in stealing from the people who are actually dragging the cartload of freeloaders.

Live like a true equal, and take your hand out of my pocket.

  16. Hoople

Be a man Jeffrey. Pay your own way and stop whining.

  17. Matt Hale

This man needs to run for President of the United States to get this country on track before it is too late!

Read Natures Eternal Religion by Ben Klassen.

    Rahowa!

  18. June Gordon

Hmmm. Either one or more persons are posting under several screen names (very likely) or the thread has been taken over by neo-Nazi white supremacists like Jim Russell. This degree of support for someone who declares people of other races different species, claims they are genetically inferior and rails against integrated schools and housing is way out of proportion to the percentage of people who hold such views.

And, make no mistake about it, “equality and justice” have nothing to do with Russell or his fellow travelers’ anti-Semitic and white supremacist delusions.

  19. The Common Man

I, for one, am not by any measure, backing Jim Russell – so pull that from your craw. What I and a ton of others are bothered about is the smug, holier-than-thou arrogance apparent in the patronizing tone constantly displayed by far leftist apologists without a commonsensical portfolio. What you don’t seem to realize is that YOU are CREATING and promoting, with your irrational condescension, the very backlash that you so fear.

  20. Tea Bag

Jim Russel was an original founding member of the White Plains Tea Party… connect the dots.

  21. Michael Santomauro

A Sense of Peoplehood is not a Pathology.

It is not racist for a professor such as Alan Dershowitz or for a ex-professor like Jim Russell, who wants to run for congress, to advocate for their ethnic group interests.

The words for bigotry, that are often used, such as: ant-Semitic, anti-White, anti-Black, anti-Arab, anti-feminist, anti-gay and hundreds of other labels, are for the most part overstated. Instead, it should be seen as pro-White, or pro-Jewish or pro-women or pro-traditional family and not be ashamed of it.

These “pro” sensibilities are part of the human condition, not to be pathologized into an “anti.”

    It is about group interests.

A race or an ethnie without a sense of peoplehood or ethnichood will end up being used to achieve the goals of other ethnies. (Yes, ethnie, not ethnic).

The feelings or thoughts for peoplehood is not a pathology. The European-American will have White ethnic interests and it is not racist to have them. Just as Hispanics, Asians, Jews and Blacks have their own ethnic interests, it should not be a pathology for Whites to have ethnic interests. –Michael Santomauro

What sort of TRUTH is it that crushes the freedom to seek the truth?

  22. June Gordon

My suspicion that one or two people are posting the white supremacist/anti-Semitic comments is confirmed now that the name of “Matt Hale” has been used. Hale is a white supremacist imprisoned for threatening to kill a federal judge. One of his followers went on a shooting spree and killed several people of color. So, there’s no room for doubt. Russell’s followers support violence in their doomed quest for a country in which only white people have rights. “Peace” certainly is not their message.

    JUNE

Let me guess, you spend hours infront of the brain washer every night, or take the mobile version with you when you walk, yet you probably call yourself an independent thinker. Cut the cord with the media for a year or two and just observe, don’t let someone in a movie or a song tell you how to think.

I think this applies to you, See above:

If someone has a differing vue, call them a racist.
When you don’t have a logical response, resort to name calling.
That is right out of The Moron’s Manifesto.

  24. Conservative Patriot

My Wife and I have known Jim Russell and his lovely family personally for well over ten years now. They are devout Catholics and attend Mass at our local Church every Sunday and all Holy Days of Obligation. Jim is a genteel and very intelligent man. The recent attacks on Jim, by his opponents, suggesting he is a racist and an anti-Semite, are TOTALLY FALSE!

All one has to do, is to read his essay on The Western Contribution to World History rather than fall victim to HEARSAY by a third party brief. As any good reporter would tell us; “Always verify the SOURCE!”

Jim cites many other authors in his essay who point out that, our world has had many great societies simply disappear after they were invaded by other cultures. Ancient Rome comes to my mind, since those invading cultures refused to assimilate and eventually imprinted their own cultures over what was once Roman through intermarriage. These are the indisputable facts, and it appears we still have a small segment of our own society who insist on rewriting history to suit their own PC Political agendas.

Having said all that, it’s now open season on all of the Conservatives! The Democrats, having nothing else to run on, as their performances to date are worse than dismal, are playing the last trick in their Liberal bags, the RACE CARD. We Conservatives are going all in, banking on the fact that, the majority of the voters are smarter than this. We can plainly see the financial damage which has been done to all of us, by all of them, with their failed Liberal policies.

On November 2nd, throw all the bums out along with any new Liberal wannabe’s, from Albany to Washington, and let’s begin to take back our Country and return her to the Greatness she once was, and can be again.

  25. Jeronimus

Whites have a right to their own peoplehood. We have a right to be us, and only we can be us.

Mass non-white immigration is disturbing our nesting grounds and lowering our birthrates. Mass non-white immigration is genocide through preplanned racial replacement and disturbing of our habitat.

  26. Fernando

What is so wrong with that letter? That’s your evidence of being racist? Lohud has become a promoter of yellow journalism. That letter can be taken a million ways.

I hope Jim Russel files a law-suit against Lohud’s writer’s who circulate the pejorative word “racist” around to smear ones character.

“The White House held reception for black college officials. It included speeches by the president on Wednesday to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and by first lady Michelle Obama to a black caucus legislative conference that same day.”... APP.com

The White Caucus… oh wait there isn’t one.

“Obama rallies black supporters at lawmakers’ gala,”... APP.com

“Obama: Black Lawmakers Must Rally Black Voters Back Home,”... APP.com

No mention of White voters or Asian voters or anybody else!

This information is for everyone and for the AIPAC member, June Gordon, in particular.

  28. Rose

Tea Bag, I connected the dots and confirmed that you are a full grown moron!

You probably don’t cast a reflection.

Everyone here calls Jim Russell a racist for some writing over 10 years ago.

What do you think of Congressman Bobby Rush, founder of the Illinois Black Panthers?

    Connect those dots “Tea Bag”!

  29. Rose

To poster “June Gordon” who mentions “Nazis”

The 1940’s called. They want your distorted history back.

This is 2010. What Nazis are you talking about? You see Nazis in your coffee! This is reality not Hollywood. There are no Nazis left. Your parents were probably born in the same trailer.

    Thank you.
